FFXIV Lore- All of the Xaela Tribes in Othard

I can’t WAIT to see all the comments on this one trying to correct my pronunciation on dozens of made up tribes in a fictional universe! Aside from that I hope everyone enjoys this follow up to the Au Ra video I did a couple days ago! I feel this was brought in in record time and I’m very proud of it!

  1. I've always enjoyed knowing how they thought up these quick descriptions for a multitude of tribes for the Xaela! Hopefully we'll see some of them show up in the MSQ or other sidestories. I also appreciate the nods you made to some of the events that occur in the game, like the one for the Qerel.

  2. my toon last name is Hotgo, so i guess he left before the killings(?). the hotgo also had blue hair which my toon hair color is. i didn't know the lore or that bit of info so it was a funny and happy coincidence when i look up the Hotgo tribe after finishing Alexander raids

  3. For the Dotharl being so aggressive, and violent they welcome people into their fold, a few bits of Npc dialogue say you can gladly drink at their oasis, just as long as you don't intend them harm.

Heck, you can even question and mock their beliefs in their camo to their faces and they won't attack you over it, as we saw in the MSQ.

Also one of the only tribes to actively help the warrior of light~

  4. I been looking for all tribes till i picked for Dazkar as i kinda liked the idea having my big old xaela be a male wife vibe rather than the one hunting.

But is also because i grew up with a father who takes lot of care of the house so maybe i got that inspiration from him.

  5. my guy ended up being a Qestir because I just hit the random name buttion until I got something I thought sounded cool, I didn't know about the tribal lore then and just assumed the last names were just random "Fantasy Mongolia" words until much later. Finding about the Qestir vow of silence made the WoL's whole Silent Protagonist thing suddenly make so much more sense lol

  6. I play two Xaelas; one apart of the Uyagir and the other a Geneq. The Uyagir was at first some random name I picked not knowing the tribal culture behind it but after finding out I spun a story out for him, while the Geneq is recently new what drew me in a little for that tribe was the fact that I love working with conlang (constructive language) so the thought of working, formulating etc a language that doesn't work with words but different sounds to emphasis something would be fun to work with and how that would play out.

  7. So I have a theory that the Mol's "Elder Gods" are elementals similar to those of the Shroud.

The Pillars of Nhama are near the Mol camp, and those are basically a huge allagan aether syphon that creates a massive confluence of aether. So I think it's safe to assume the elementals in the mountains and steppe near the Pillars are stronger than your average sprite (though still vastly weaker than the Shroud's Elementals, which would explain why the extent of their influence on the Mol being whispers and guidance rather than the more.. direct action the Shroud's Elementals are known to take).

Combine these more powerful Elementals with the Au Ra's increased sensory perception from their horns, and it's possible that the Mol have evolved a particular mutation that makes some of them able to use their horns' extra perception abilities to listen to the faint whispers of these slightly stronger elementals, just like how the Padjal's horns grant Hearers the ability to perceive the shift in aether from the Elementals.

Imagine the ancestors of the Mol living in close proximity to an unusually massive confluence of aether, and because of that evolving a trait that makes their horns not only able to sense shifts in air pressure and vibration, but also shifts in the local aether, and they start hearing these faint whispers and voices that, unbeknownst to them, come from the faint, fumbling intelligences of the elementals forming in the area, who are more powerful than usual for the Steppe due to that same confluence, and interpreting these whispers as words of spirits. At first, perhaps the whispers are nothing more than the fleeting thoughts of these beings, and don't make much sense, the few that hear them potentially even being regarded with suspicion or fear. But then perhaps there's some sort of natural disaster – a particularly violent storm, an earthquake, a rampaging beast, a drought, etc – that the elementals can perceive ahead of time due to sensing changes in the aether prior to the disaster arriving at the doorstep of the Mol. One of these mistrusted outcasts can hear the elementals fretting over this disaster, as the imbalance of aether upsets them, and warns their tribe, saving lives. From here, they begin to accept these "hearers" and pay more attention to the whispers, and every now and then something good comes out of it. The elementals in turn begin to sense that their thoughts influence these people, and the people's actions affect the aether in turn. They start to tell them which areas are overgrown and need to be grazed on by their sheep herds in order to balance the aether, or to hunt a specific kind of animal if their numbers are growing a bit too much for their liking. Over the centuries, this evolves into the culture we see today, with them regarding these spirits that offered guidance to their people as gods of eld, spirits of the land apart from the Dusk Mother and Dawn Father, and deferring to them on almost all things.

  8. One thing to know about the Hotgo: the Xaela involved in the Alexander questline/raid series are from that Tribe, and their lore is tied to it, which is kinda funny that the Dotharl specifically wiped them out if you know about their own lore.

  9. It's a shame we never see the Dalamiq tribe in game I would have loved to see them, oh well at least I wear their colors proudly. As for the Chaghan tribe has anyone seen any of them cuz the only one I ever seen was girl that was with Curious Gorge.

  10. I wonder about the connection between azim and azem, aside from the obvious name is the sun. azim is a sun god , while azems crystal bears the astrological symbol of the sun.

  11. I made my Au Ra without knowing any of this but she got the name Avagnar thanks to the in game name Generator, and I gotta say her being a part of that tribe sort of makes sense for the backstory I already created for her so, pretty sweet.

  12. Thank you so much for expanding on the Xaela tribes. I just love reading/listening about all the details each of these races have.

I'd love to know more about the Raen as well. πŸ’œ

Always delighted to listen/watch ypur videos!

  13. my character Hime Kawanami's birth name is Ashelia Dotharl. she was orphaned young but the tribe stepped up and raised her with a lot of love and care. so for her when she arrived at the Dotharl camp it was like coming home after a LONG absence. of course she showed restraint so as not to embarrass herself in front of her tribe
