Fennec Finds Her Way Home

Fennec came in to the rescue in 2021 as part of a broodmare liquidation from a low-end livestock auction where her only other bidder was a killbuyer. Unhandled to start with, she went through our training program, did great on the ground, but ran into some hurdles with saddle training, so she became available for adoption as a companion horse.

Companion homes are much harder to find than riding homes, but Fennec eventually found a good match in November of 2023, as a companion to a blind horse. When the family’s situation changed in March of 2024, however, we were asked if we might take Fennec back. We are always available to take our former rescues back in, so Fennec has returned to the rescue, where she is getting lots of volunteer and horse buddy love while we evaluate her next steps!

Mountain Shadows Equine Revival is a 501(c)3 non-profit horse rescue located in Laramie, Wyoming. We are all volunteer-run and donation-supported.

  2. It sounds like her adopters really care for her. I am happy that she will not be alone. They were truly thinking about her well-being and happiness. Thank you to the rescue for always being a safe place to land for all the horses in their care, both past and present. She will find the perfect home!
