My absolute favorite piece of Haydn’s. Haydn is famous (or infamous) for the jokes/gags in his music, but this sonata/rondo hybrid was easily the furthest he went. So many bizarre, deranged, and downright offensive musical choices were made in this virtuosic showpiece…but that’s exactly what makes it so memorable. Enjoy!
