  1. Nature is erratic and stones do crumble and that is the beauty. Should everything be enveloped in a Disneyland-like railing with warning signs every 10'?? I'm truly sorry for their loss but that is nature and we hike at our risk.

  2. Yes, saftey measures. Like telling hickerz not to go where they shouldn't go. Its a trail up a cliff of a mountain. Not a sidewalk. U go up there u better know how to walk straight.

  3. They should sue the state. That trail is in such poor condition. Has been for years, and years. Yet the state doesn't tell people how dangerous it is. Don't let the state sweet talk you into just "accepting" it. Make them pay. The state knew it was not safe. That is why they are spending tons of money to "try" and make it safer. If it is a state park trail, does it comply with ADA regulations??? Is it ADA accessible???? Looks like a multi million suite to me.

  5. how close was he to the edge? its a mountain not a sidewalk..hikers know their own limitation and the risk before climbing. stay on the bottom if YOU feel its not safe.

  6. People shouldn't be going out if they are not fit for the activity. It is dangerous even for the experienced. You should be more knowlegable and prepared. This is a big problem caused by tourists. They come here and do things that even the locals don't do. Where is the Hawaii Tourism Authority when this happens? Accountability for the problems you create by making Hawaii out to be a playground for holiday goers. Just a mess all around. Then Hawaii taxpayers gotta pay for it. Have the HTA pay for every incident involving tourists!!

  7. Every hike is dangerous even pill box and you going there to hike you hiking at your own risk. Especially people who have zero experience hiking. Hawaii is more then a hike. More then a waterfall more then a view.
