FALLEN SHADOWS: New band of former members of Angels Holocaust and Mystical End releases first single. Sixteen years after the release of Mystical End’s “Game of Chaos”, vocalist Rodrigo Cafundó (ex-Mystical End and Angels Holocaust), guitarist Carlos Pranches (Mystical End) and bassist Eduardo Meira (Mystical End) reunite for the release of “A Day of Treason”, the first single from the band Fallen Shadows.
Recorded at Modus Operandi Studio and produced by Raphael Dantas (Ego Absence and Soulspell), the single brings the musicians together after more than a decade: “We created great music together in the Mystical End period and rescuing this process today is very valuable. In fact, resuming the partnership and friendship was the most important point of this journey”, commented vocalist Rodrigo Cafundó.
“Our new band brings together many characteristics of the past, with feet in the present and eyes on the future. It is a renewed, invigorated and energized continuity,” he added.
Guitarist Carlos Pranches notes that Fallen Shadows works on current concepts in their first single, such as the US Capitol invasion that happened on January 6, 2021.
“The single A Day of Treason’ is about the Us Capitol invasion that took place last year. The theme is a mixture of the critical view that it was a mistake and the culprits will be punished, with parts of the fanatical view of the invaders who believed they were right and that their cause was just. A great topic to start with”, say the guitarist.
“There is no way to close your eyes to what is happening in our world today. So many social and political problems, health crises.. Anyway, you cannot ignore it. So we didn’t want something ‘mystical” or ‘fanciful’, but direct and real,” he added.
Bassist Eduardo Meira, also responsible for creating the band’s visual identity, explained the option of using an aesthetic with black and white images. “1 believe that the aesthetic based on the black and white images represents well the dark concept that gives the band its name, in addition to portraying well what we are, of our journey so far. All very honest and real. The single’s cover addresses the division, polarity and destruction promoted by blind and conspiratorial extremists. It represents the weight of our music very well.”
After the release of “A Day of Treason”, Fallen Shadows reveals that the focus is to continue composing and recording. “We will certainly release more songs, because the focus is to keep writing and recording.
