  1. Thanks for all the coverage on Broken Anvil Studio Paints kickstarter, I was a late backer so don't think i have any way of gettting a refund but super cool knowing i got scammed and can move on from waiting for my new paints. My introduction to war gaming is worse then my intro to crypto

  2. Dragon Eclipse doesnโ€™t need the booster packs. Itโ€™s a waste. Would rather have them lower the price. Love the foil cards. Right now itโ€™s an easy pass. They need way more info on how to play the game and miniature sizes.

  3. I have to disagree with you on Dragon Eclipse minis vs the standees. I really prefer the minis! To me it looks like the minis were made for adults and the standees for children. Also, the minis have more going on than the standees.

  4. Unreliable Wizard is already a game made in 2022. Its solo only, and really tiny box of cards, you basically go from card to card, use cards from your hand to cast spells, and fight enemies and bosses. The reason it has such a big of a following is because the Dice Tower has vids on it, and it was made before, so people are waiting for expansions and stuff.

  5. Regarding gen con "theft" question; I wonder if their lawyers argues about "misplaced" or "lost" vs stolen. For example you lay your wallet in the ground during a picnic and forget to pick it up on your way out and someone else takes it. Law is vague in that case in many states. Often states say the finder has to announce their finding in a local newspaper (the laws proceeded radio) and after publishing for a couple weeks; if the original owner doesnโ€™t step forward the finder can keep it. Could the open nature of the convention hall been used as a legal argument by the lawyers…aka my clients just "found" the stuff laying there…etc. if they return the "misplaced" items no crime occurred. Not saying I agree with this theory just wondering if that is the path they were taking. Imagine leaving an expensive yeti mug at the water dispenser next to the bathroom at work. You finish in the bathroom but forget to take the yeti on your back to your desk. If that yeti sits there for a week can someone take it and keep it. If they do is it theft. State laws may be different in determining whether a crime occurred. The lawyers may argue that ownership lines are blury in the oem convention space and their clients were just securing unclaimed property. Total BS of course to fall back on idea they were just securing "lost" product but perhaps that allowed them to return the "found" product through negotiation to avoid charges.

  6. As far as the theft, first, they might not want to press charges. They might just want their inventory back. If they know who did it, it might just be easier to have their lawyers contact them and say if you give us the stuff back we won't press charges. Especially if, with all the publicity of this, it would be difficult to sell the cards. Second, if they press charges, the inventory might be tied up as evidence until the criminal proceedings are done. That could literally take years. $300,000 is a lot of inventory to have tied up in court. Or, it could be a combination of the two.

  7. For AI art I donโ€™t think thatโ€™s the reason that game isnโ€™t fundingโ€ฆ but I believe some people(the minority) are turned away by it. I find it no issue to use AI and I think it can enhance an artists ability especially for time when used and I would gladly back games that use it.

For Dragon Eclipse I really wish AR would get into acrylic standees. The games creatures I think would look Amazing on acrylic!

  8. i canceled my pladge for dominate and delegate. felt to unfinished by me, the art is kinda meh, gameplay with 3 different types of playing feels a bit meh to me. also the mini quality from what they have shown doesn;t really do it for me. buildings are fine, but for the soldiers i dunno.

the idea is nice, but imho it just feels to unfinished

  9. Iโ€™ve been following Vrahode and talked to the owner/designer and watched a demo at Gen Con and itโ€™s looking amazing. His podcasts give a great amount of info about the game system. Thanks for the video and providing much need info on incoming games.

  10. I saw what you held up, thank you for not directly answering my question about if you were going to cover that game. I also backed and received my box. Mini's were being assembled this weekend, that was until FedEx randomly shows up and dropped off the Gambler's Chest….no tracking number or anything, just a random moment on a Saturday morning where I almost threw my breakfast across the room with excitement. Reminds me of Christmas as a kid.

  11. Edit: I ended up watching the 2 videos Awaken Realms made on Dragon Eclipse. The gameplay has a story-mode where you read story passages, make some skill checks using cards, has a time passing mechanic, and somehow you keep track of different spots that get marks on the map. Think of this like you visit a town with many different places that the story passages tell you which ones you go to. And then after story mode is arena mode. Arena mode is where you fight against another creature and have the possibility to complete your quest and/or capture the creature you are fighting. Then there's a one-off gameplay mode, which seems like an attack the tower and see how far you can get up the tower. There may be more modes as well, but that's what I've gleaned so far from their videos. I wish the campaign page explained that more fully. Also wish KoA spent more time on explaining this rather than focusing on the similarities/differences between a TCG and CCG. This game is neither!! This game has a fixed card deck and as you play through the story, you add more cards to your deck (i.e. deck builder) as well as new creatures that you can use to fight with (think maybe like Pokemon, but not really.) Anyway, I really hope more comes out about the actual gameplay and less about how it looks. Awaken Realms always has very good looking games. Gameplay, however, is another story….Not that it's bad, but past games have their quirks.

  12. With the worms game I think you are half right. I do think it would still fund if the worms name wasnโ€™t attached to it. I have the same dilema that a lot of people probably have. If you have kids and love to play tabletop games with minatures most of the games you want to play they either canโ€™t sit down long enough to play and learn a long game or they donโ€™t want to. So this game is perfect to have at a family game night. Easy rules lots of minis you can show off after youโ€™ve painted them. This one should be fun to table.

  13. Did they change the scale of Zombie Horde? Wasn't it originally 20mm or am I mixing up games? I know the new Nemesis is small but I was passing on Zombie Horde without giving it a second thought because I thought it was too small of a scale for my interest. Now I see it's 32mm – 35mm scale! I'm definitely super interested now! I always wanted a zombie horde-like game that wasn't Zombicide (and I really like the miniatures so far!)

Here's hoping they go all out on scatter terrain and bling so the board doesn't just look "flat and box-like".

  14. With the worms game im really in disagree, i can tale than you didn't do a propper research or watch any game play video of this game, you can see what kind of strategy game is, and the size of the miniatures there, in adition i don't thing it would be founded without the worms logo because the mecanics whas made based on the videogame so i dont think it works good with other franchise, so i feel a little disappointed on this review

  15. thanks for the video – the four horsemen looks like a great game – it reminds me of pandemic on steroids – i hope it does well. Also note a game called Hybris that you have previously covered is currently doing a reprint campaign … its certainly a worker placement game but so very prettty.

  16. The reason to package the cards in a booster pack has to do with the foiling of some of the cards. It's a way to control humidity until it's in the hands of the consumer. MtG cards only start to curl after they're opened; and they can curl badly. Most cards in board games come sealed in some way. If the factory is set up to do booster packs already, it's probably just as cheap as anything else.

  17. Campaigns should absolutely have a $5 retailer pledge. I run a small game store. A lot of our sales are from Kickstarter games. I can't afford to have 30 or 40 $500 pledges out at once for 2+ years. CMON requires $100 down, and that's about as high as I can afford with the frequency of their games. I've had to pass on a lot of projects because it wasn't in the budget that month.

  18. It's weird how much of a bug you took for the dragon game, every videos on it you go for the most nitpicky comments about it, which you don't really do for other games with far more problems with them.

  19. Thanks for the mention! I feel the same way about not being able to get rid of cards. The Egyptians build wonders so I took wonders from past and present. They hold supernatural power that the Egyptians release.

  20. I liked the hell boy game. Mantic is inconsistent with their quality. The earlier projects were ok, I didnt know any better. but Hell boy is their best 2 KS so far. But they could have been better and more consistent. Worms is a hard pass.

  21. About Unreliable Wizard, it is a previously Japan only solo game that did not have an English release yet.
Mike from TDT did a review a few weeks ago and mentioned the GF campaign there as well.

  23. The Dragon Eclipse booster pack may not be as exiting, but at least it does not have a business strategy of making money by creating the greatest amount of trash possible like MTG. I wonder how many cards and how much plastic wrapping went strait to the landfill creating that 300.000 dollar collection. A container or two?
