Fantastic interview, love listening to Nasty. Such a cool guy. Will definitely be buying his book!
Nice conversation
True legend!! 😎👌
Great, and Nasty is a bad arse!
G'day from Australia.
🇦🇺🤝🇺🇸
let's get naaaasteeey!!!
A real fight is not a fair fight.
curious to know what nasty thinks about the eurofighter even if probably he neve fought against it. cause its a 9g plane like the f16.
Nasty is an amazing interview!
ASRAAM! IRIS-T, as well. The original (inservice) weapon that could launch off foresight using HMDS was the Soviet R-73 (NATO AA-11 Archer).
Thanks for limiting the ads to a reasonable number!
This is superb stuff. I do all this in DCS but it must have been awesome in real life. A super Hornet down to 40kts is insane!
Turning your head at 9 g,s . I have a thought , why not have a camera/ combined with a radar on a swivel mount looking aft. No more neck pain.!
Fantastic stuff!
Kinda sorta right. Having fought in the Super Hornet, you want to lead with rudder and follow with lateral stick. You CAN use lateral stick only, the jet won’t depart, but you won’t be max performing the jet—turn performance will not be as good. There will be noticeable lag. Still gotta use the rudder if you want to get the most out of her at high alpha.
Ask Nasty about shimming control rods on an operational nuclear reactor at MARF in 1999.
M-346 fa master
This discussion made me think of the Sea Harrier and how good it must have been at turning and pointing at low speed.
Another amazing interview and person that I could happily spend hours listening to!
I particularly like the interview style on this channel because the guest is allowed to be the star and isn't being regularly interrupted as happens on some other channels (YT channels generally, not just aviation related channels).
Keep up the good work
💪
Great Content and stories but , choppy audio for alot of it! give us more!
I was on the Nimitz when Capt. Manazir was the Skipper. The "Nasty 'Stache" was a thing. Anyone with enough testosterone to grow a mustache were in direct competition with him.
“Turn that thing inside its own butt”🤣😭🤣😭🤣brilliant saying
Nasty, another 1 of my favourite interviewee’s. Thanks chaps. Great viewing👍🏽👍🏽
DACT F14A v F14D lol.
is deeply sad the F-14D program was canceled, i would say it was a very bad decision, they could at least maintain a certain amount of F-14D at service for specific missions while keeping the FA-18.
this was so good, i even learned more for my DCS fighting
And that is why DCS is an arcade game for these guys.
I am very curious to hear these guys experiences training against M2000,especially the -5 versions. I probably have heard some very interesting stories 😉
This channel is fantastic. Thanks to all the Aircrew who give fascinating insight to their lives, careers and aircraft.Brilliant.🤙
As expensive as it would have been to maintain (total cost), marrying a modern FBW system (like from F15EX or FA18E/F) with the F14D, I quite suspect that the result would have been a really fun and surprisingly maneuverable fighter even as big as those things were. With any of the more modern 2 seat aircraft (F14D or newer), upgrade them with F35 sensors and such and the result would be a reasonably good fighter but a really dangerous quarterback for a strike force. I've always enjoyed watching the Tomcat demos at airshows… As to the F15EX, I saw an interview recently where the pilot being interviewed basically stated that the aircraft basically didn't have an alpha limit… all thanks to the FBW software. In an environment where the F22's stealth isn't needed, the F15EX doing just the A-A role is likely going to give someone some nightmares. Still, I miss the Tomcats.
First time ever I've heard any pilot call the Hornet a rate fighter?! My Hornet buddies always said it was a pure angles fighter, preferred a one circle over a two. Matter of fact, just text my former Rhino buddy, he said it was not a rate fighter.
F22?
