I finally defeated Margit last night. I waited till lvl 39 to approach him. Jelly fish and some other summoning along with my scaled meteor staff helped me kill him quick.

The Howling in Mistwood Ruins is an NPC called Blaidd, if you look up you can see him perching on top of the ruins, use the Finger Snap Gesture to bring him down and start his sidequest.
