Seems like we have started the exotic quest for Season of the Deep. The Hawthorne Fishing quest was a nudge by Bungie to get to fishing for the new exotic fish that they unlocked, and confirmed on twitter it took about a day. Once you catch that fish, take it to the aquarium and you’ll get the Broken Blade of Strife which you can use at the first Hive as you descend into Deep Dive. Week 2 and 3 will likely be similar with Exotic fix for an item to interact with the other two statues shown, and then what happens after that is unclear. More to come in future weeks on this.

The quest is not available to me from Hawthorne? I go to her and she has nothing to give me
There are 3 statues in the boss room along with the 3 you mention that do something too, I'm not sure what tho. When the ogres appear there's a message about "flames in the deep are extinguished" or something similar. When the ogres are killed the statues revert to being on fire. Good there is a proper quest as this week's story mission was a bit pathetic.

Well this sucks. I've caught and turned in 3 Whispering Mothcarp. I have no broken blade, and no way to interact with the statues. And nothing mentioned in the TWID about this being a known issue. So… some of us just don't get it?

I think going forward from obtaining the first blade when we get the second we can interact with the second statue etc
I caught the fish but didn't get the quest 😢. Anyone hear about that?
Edit: if you don't get the quest, just go to the statue. It wasn't in my inventory, but I could still activate the statue and complete the step.

Getting an exotic or even a legendary fish would be nice. I think I’ve gotten two legendary fish total and no exotics since fishing became a thing this season
I’m not sure if it was just me but when I interacted with the idol and went to complete the mission, and the second level, I thought I saw three Hive knights that spawned in and the text on the left side said something about “blades of strife”. Anyone else see this? Has it always been there or was I imagining it?

that's cool and all but I'm maxed out on the seasonal quest line atm (step 39 wait till next week lol) and hawthorn does not have another fishing quest for me. Did you just not do her first fishing quest from week one or is bungie being bungie about this whole thing?

I'm guessing after you finish the 2nd encounter that's when the door will open for the 2nd statue, becuz it's a closed door otherwise!!!
Do you have to complete the deep dive after giving the blade t on the statue ?
It's not tied to Hawthorne's fishing rally quest at all (i caught the mothcarp, and placed the broken blade on the statue, before I even picked up the fishing rally, then, out of boredom, completed the fishing rally quest entirely…just requires catching a metric ton of fish)

Fishing Rally quest with Hawthorne or do you have to go the Hawthorne before going to deposit fish? I had to go to the Quest Archive Terminal > Seasonal to get Fishing Rally: Throne World to pick up the quest; then speak to Hawthorne.
Did fishing quest and over 300 fish after that no exotic fish yet

I just found out there was a second statue… I ONLY KNEW. About the FIRST STATUE. C'mon bungie what the hell. It's practically reset, and the door to the left with the 2nd statue was closed… just got booted for reset. I heard that this was supposed to come out earlier. I wish I would have found this video FAR in advance. I honestly feel like I was cheated out of this. God… that's so upsetting
Bungie killed destiny 2 by never putting resources back into the game but instead they funneled every cent into marathon & thats going to be the same experience as destiny. It is destiny 3 all ideas from community have gone into this game they don't care want you want just your money hold all company's accountable bungies fruad is quite insane

wrong , you are all being mislead . you have to activate ALL 3 in 1 single dive to complete the ritual idk who is the fool who told you that you can just do it once per week .
proof of my words is that you get the shards back and you can easily repeat it , you hear a dialogue then a second dialogue for the second one but then nothing . this mean the ritual isnt complete and you are all being duped thinking you are doing it right
