  1. We have a serious cultural problem and students need to be held accountable before they can escalate to this kind of violence. Teachers should not have to face even a fraction of this. It's just so awful. As someone who is earning my certification for teaching, the amount of people asking me why I want to do such a thankless job and warning me that it isn't worth it is staggering. I did a practicum in a classroom where a second grader was allowed to do whatever he wanted as long as he didn't throw chairs like he did in the beginning of the school year and he ruined the class. My parents were worried he might try what the six year old did with this teacher, to me! That's not okay. And students don't get expelled any more when they show these tendencies. It's madness.

I may end up teaching online!

  2. What "triggers" a 6 year old child to bring a gun to school and shoot his teacher???? In every situation, it takes all involved playing a part or being responsible for a part of what happened. I have many questions.

  3. As a teacher, it’s so sad to hear this story. Teachers go through sooooo much, it’s one of the worsts jobs if you have bad students. God bless all the teachers out there!

  5. She is beautiful. Facing a gun and she’s more worried about getting her “babies” out of there. Which she still did after being shot with a collapsed lung! There should be charges when a 6yr old has access to a gun and takes it to school then shoots his teacher! It sounds like the parents are aware the child already has issues so you’d think there would be no guns in the home or at the very least locked away from a 6 yr old. I hope this lovely lady will be ok ❤️

  6. How do you not immediately stop the press ! A first grader has a gun ! Three warnings and everyone went along their day like it’s routine ?! I must be missing a lot of the story. And no criminal charges ??!! Parents should be charge for not keeping the gun on lockdown. The school should of went into lockdown immediately and the child isolated and gun removed. This is insane !

  7. The adult in the room should have taken away the kids bag herself if she was sure there was a gun. It was her or theother kids in the firing line so why wait for permission from the management dowm the hall out the firing line. Duh.
