Regarding German humour:
While dialogue writing in ES 1/2 is quite good, X4 also had a number of good jokes. Especially if you tend to choose… less morally acceptable paths.
ive played over 2,000 HRs of X4:Foundations and although i love the game the jokes regarding the UI were Hilarious.
if your getting into X4 as a new player to the series i could only imagine the suffering but id encourage to push through it

Have you checked Spacebourne 2?
i refunded this hard but not fast enough, i followed the story, did some basic mining(collecting), looked at the ship specs hoping to ugrade something(not important immediately in most games), then jumped to 2 of the 3 available locations shown, wiped both times… refunded.
later when spacebourne 2 came out in EA, it could be hard, but DOABLE, because 1 level difference does not make your enemy a god, nor does space wizard accuracy up your exaust port, 5 level difference with the full set of wrong weapons can change everything(scratching shields with non-shield weapons), can ruin you(reload save).
I unironically like X4's UI…I think, you just don't appreciate stronk German Engineering, Yamiks 😜

I am having such a blast with this game. I kinda liked first Everspace but I wasnt able to stick with it to the end. But his one? Man, it already consumed pretty sizable chunk of my time and I am still in early game.
Great review! This game is fun fun. I’ve tried this with controller, HOTAS, HOSAS and kb&m. It’s best played with kb&m by a long shot. Play how ever you like though all y’all. HOSAS was doable but eh. Once you get the feel for kb&m you get that it’s like a fps rpg but you are a ship!
Now we just need to wait for real space game release from early access… Subverse !!!
