Hi everyone, it’s Evangeline. And today, we’ll be taking a look at our Saris Hatch Huggers for your Saris bike racks right here at etrailer. So, with this, you’re gonna get two Hatch Huggers used to help replace or upgrade the hooks on your current Saris bike racks. So, if you have different fits for the trunk racks, for example, I have the Saris Bones EX 3 and the instructions are to replace our top hooks with Hatch Huggers. That way, we help protect our spoiler on top. So, I’m gonna switch out the hook on our Saris Bones bike rack and then use it with the Hatch Hugger.
And I’ll show you the difference this makes compared to the old design. So, here we have the old design. So, this was a dog bone style where you have the foam on the end. You would take off the foam and then you would put the strap from your hook on there. Now, for the new design, we have this piece.
So, this is designed to be used with your current hooks. They just clip into the Hatch Hugger itself and it’s also made of a different material. The process of installing the Hatch Hugger in the old version, you would take off the old strap and replace it with the new strap. In the new version, you just take off that old strap, and then you feed the end through the Hatch Hugger and bring it all the way through until your hook automatically clips into whichever groove it fits into. There’s gonna be different grooves for your different hooks.
So, whether you have your larger upper hooks or your shorter side hooks, this fits right into it. So just like that, after you’ve installed your Hatch Hugger, you can use it the exact same way you did it with the older version. So, this is gonna feed through and then help you strap down your trunk rack. So, you are going to get a pair of Hatch Huggers. So, some vehicles require you getting four Hatch Huggers to replace your hooks, so just double check that so you get enough for you.
But my personal thoughts about these is they’re definitely an upgrade from the older version. I like how this is made of a more durable material. It looks a lot better with how you have those grooves for the hooks and I personally think it works better too, making it easier for you to install your trunk rack.
