Ep 46 : This base it going to be a bit tough, Extra hard : Oxygen not included

This was hard, there was way to much thinking and planning involved in this one. End of the day if my numbers are accurate we should be able to support 8 dupes on this planet sustained entirely off the 1kg of methane. I mean the
rule is “Only input is 1kg/s of Methane” so if you make your diamond drill bit from that methane you can harvest space POI’s right?

  1. If the wiki is accurate to the current build i believe metal tiles also give the 50% speed bonus so you could replace the plastic tiles with all the iron you got for better thermal conductivity

  2. If you want a unique spin for the industrial brick, you can steal your own idea from way-back-when on rime – The cryo-brick. (instead of a steam room, it's so cold the gasses freeze)

  3. So the lettuce requires bleach-stone which, to the best of my knowledge, cannot be provided by Aku. What's the plan for that? Or are ya just going with wild lettuce (which is probably the most ideal method anyways)?

  5. Hi! Now we have a good Niobium Tamer which works nice and smooth. And produce so much of niobium that it should be moved to normal metal from "rare". In my base I have more niobium then any other material except sand. And technically I have more niobium than sand lie in the tamer… I don't have enough radbolts to transfer it to my main planet (I just don't need so much). If you interested in I'll send you a schema… Hot side cost: 5 wolframite for the doors + ~500kg tungsten for automation + ~4000kg of diamond + 2 tons of water + obsidian for insulation tiles.

  6. Francis, I love this playthrough. I was wondering. Why not making a pip farm with the trees? I think food will be the struggle here. I know they will reduce the amount of PH2O, P dirt and CO2, but i would be suprise if it's not more efficient than burning ethanol for power you don't need.

  7. hey FJ, add pufts. excess polluted dirt + sublimation station + pufts = slime which makes algae + polluted water. it'll make the arbor trees water positive and give some oxygen to your dupes in algae. and the ethanol distilleries are super hot btw, they output the ethanol at about 70c if not hotter depending on the lumber going in so it'll stifle the arbor trees. i would put the ethanol distilleries inside the slickster ranches and keep the pressure above 2kg for off gassing reasons. for higher efficiency you could add in grubgrubs cause they can 'tend' arbor tree branches. if you rather, you could use the new oakshells to eat the polluted dirt to make more lumber but they're annoying to set up

  9. I don't know if I like or dislike how being indecisive of which statue combination to choose lead to a bunch of cramming and designing on 10 bases that need 1 kg of methane from a sour gas boiler with a statue. Around what episode did you come up with this?
PS: what will you do with the sulfur?

  11. Microwave? YES!! I've been thinking the same for a LONG TIME! You get all this food frozen to -18*C yet somehow dupes are just like "nom nom nom?" Granted, they're dupes, seems to fit for the game, and warming food back up would take more time… but c'mon!

  12. The radiation from a couple shine bugs are enough to keep the polluted dirt from the sieve free of germs. I had a stable germ free bathroom and sieve room with just 5 bugs. The water is still contaminated, but that's easy enough to take care of if you want/need to.

  13. I really liked your plan from one of the last episodes with the relay rockets. Only the amount of senders/receivers is very limited. But there is a solution for that besides spamming rockets: You can use the multiplexer/demultiplexer (for once) to give each signal there own slot and use one sender/receiver for 4 signals. You just have to use a synchronous clock (aka. the day time sensor) to give each signal its time slot and a rs-latch for each signal at the receiving end to remember the last state until the next time its "update time" comes. I don't know if that is one of your preferred brute force solutions, but imo it would be quite cool.

P.S.: I totally didn't use the keyword 'cool' here, because it worked for me the last time, promise ^^

  14. Im really enjoying this series. You should take your time for every nutty thing your dupes get into and show it to us! Don't make the series end for a loooong time!

  15. Just saw you passed on a Steve, next time a new printable is up keep an eye out for yodeling, nice overjoyed reaction, my mecatronic engineer gets +8 build, construct, and operate when singing. Those are his likes so maybe its tied to that but worth a look in the current playthrough.

  16. Am I crazy or are your maps smaller than mine? What’s up with that? I’m guessing it’s a different planet? I’m trying the game again and I’ve already dug up through two biomes and I see a third above that one, and it’s the same going down. Abundance of phosphorous seems to have saved me. Didn’t realize how important it was to farm.
