Aww man! I was looking forward to the potato chip meme. Although it's much better in dub anyway. I'm not sure where the misconception came from but no. Ryuk litteraly can't leave a deathnote that was last his. Even if it belongs to nobody & is on earth, he has to stay with it once it's there. That radius he mentioned is as far as he can go unless Light relinquished ownership & directly hands it to ryuk rather than dropping it. But it's a detail that is often missed or misunderstood even after finishing the story. "I have to stay until the deathnote is finished or I see you die, which ever comes 1st" "no way, then he'd be stuck there until the rest of that humans life or until the deathnote is destroyed" btw. The 2 deathnotes only refer to Light's & his own. Normally shinigami don't have a separate deathnote for a human. It's already implied but it's directly stated later. Sorry if that's a spoiler? I'm not sure if it counts. Also I think you summarized it perfectly & did plenty of justice to the scene
Won't ever be in the show but nope. His birth name is L Lawliet. Yes his actual name IS L. But it's useless without the last name & likely no one would believe him, Light included
