Elon Musk has been vocal about his ambitions for space exploration and the importance of colonizing Mars for the survival of the human species. In a tweet from March 2021, Musk gave an update on what is happening on Mars right now, revealing that the Starship prototype had completed a successful test flight. “Starship landing nominal!” Musk tweeted, sharing a video of the Starship prototype landing safely back on Earth. The Starship prototype is a crucial component of SpaceX’s plans for Mars colonization. According to Musk, the Starship will be able to transport up to 100 people and 100 tons of cargo at a time, making it possible to establish a self-sustaining city on Mars. Musk has also stated that he hopes to send the first crewed mission to Mars as early as 2024. To prepare for these missions, SpaceX has been conducting a series of test flights of the Starship prototype. The most recent test flight took place in May 2021 and involved launching the Starship prototype to an altitude of 10 km before landing it back on Earth.
