  1. Don't forget that guard counters actually make a tanky greatshield build more viable. The extra stability from greatshields can help you get in that one extra guard counter vs some baddies that can make a whole heap of difference

  2. NO matter what build you have, you can become broken and overpowered.
Everything is OP in this game.
In some open world games they give you sidequests that are mundane and boring. Such as go out and kill 5 rabbits or some non-sense. This game has none of that. Just explore.

In a dungeon I found a lantern that shoots ghosts at people.

Massive gameplay elements such as armor customization, flask customization, are just hidden away in places people might not ever find.

The game map is also much larger than it seems there are other large "areas" to explore.

  3. “Take the glaringly obvious hint that this isn’t for you yet”

    Laughs in Magic combos

I’ve been using a dex build cause some of the dex weapons in this game are crispy

Especially that katana you get off a certain boss 😉

  4. Went straight to Margit, got my ass beaten about a dozen times before beating him and stormveil castle was absolute hell, because I was massively underleveled with a tooth pick for a weapon. Most fun I ever had with a video game 😀

  5. It's a good game. Nothing mind blowing though. Like, Sekiro was a really new direction for FromSoft. This one is the same DS3 with open world aspect.

  6. I got up to the grand lift area and thought that damn this game is huge, but then i stumbled upon the underground area and found out that its like, half the size of the overworld map. Absolutely insane.

  7. I have only killed the first major boss but have explored basically all the map. Getting my but kicked because I don't wanna progress the story is kinda fun I really do love the open worldness of the game.

  8. The game is literally everything I’ve wanted it to be. My GOTY and it won’t even be close, there are some things I’d definitely change but man
    10/10 still from me

  9. Since Lenny can’t have a broken sword he should use the Grafted Blade Greatsword, it looks like that’s where all of the other half’s to his broken ones went.

  10. Weird how Elden Ring perfects the Dark Souls formula by fixing awful mechanics that have been present in the series for years and years. Yet when brought up when the games came out you were told to "git gud" and "youre just bad, I think that this broken mechanic actually works well". The souls community has been so obsessed with the "difficulty" of the games that they have been in denial of how awful they have actually been, the irony is that this led the developers to just keep making the same game over and over. This is the exact same story as when Breath of the Wild came out, how is Ocarina still "perfect" when its own fans say that Breath of the Wild made it better. Smoothbrained children shouldn't review games because they lead to no improvement from the developers. Elden Ring could have been made years ago if the Souls community didn't constantly lie to themselves saying that DS is perfect and shouldn't be changed. Exactly like how Bloodborne needed to be made a separate game completely to have its superior mechanics, otherwise the DS community would revolt as their clunky, unfair game was tampered with.

The Stockholm syndromed Souls community don't know what they want, they've never known what they wanted.
They deserve neither Bloodborne nor Elden Ring.

  11. I honestly feel like this game being open world doesn't really benefit it all that much, just adds to the confusion of where to go and what to do, you're just overwhelmed with possibilities.

  12. what did you think of radhan? it’s surprising to hear you say you only really didn’t like one boss and i know you aren’t talking about him

  14. Not only has From made a great open world game, they have done so without sacrificing their quality level design and art direction. The underground eternal cities are absolutely gorgeous and Leyndall might be the best designed location From has ever made, truly feeling like the major city of a civilization and making you feel small and puny.

By the way, about that boss in the mid to late game that is just two enemies together: If it is the one I think it is (the one before the festival), it can actually be skipped by doing a certain sidequest. I found the boss, thought it was shit, went on to do something else and started an important sidequest. Said sidequest directs you back to this fights for what comes after the fight itself (trying to be vague here), and imagine my surprise when I got there and the boss was gone. I just think it's pretty cool that there's even a boss that can be skipped if you go exploring (though I don't know if it was because of the sidequest or because of finding a certain new area that requires an elevator).

  15. SPOILER WARNING

If the boss fight you mentioned towards the end was the crucible knight and leonine misbegotten right before Radahn, that's actually optional. I got there, lost a few times then went and did part of Ranni's quest, came back there as part of the quest and the festival had started without needing to kill those two. This doesn't change the fact that they are still two reused bosses but it's just something I found out in my play through so far.
