Don Pawsquale's in a feline frenzy | David Stout Interview | Don Pasquale 2024

🐱🎭 Opera’s gone cat-crazy! Watch our purr-fectly delightful interview with David Stout, who plays the title character of Don Pasquale in our production of the Donizetti opera! Or should that be Don Paws-quale? 😼🐾 And there’s no better location to discuss this feline-infused opera from director-duo Barbe & Doucet, than the wonderful Meow Café Glasgow.

Set in Rome’s Swinging Sixties, Don Pasquale runs a crumbling boarding house. He’s sat on a fortune that he’s determined to keep from his nephew Ernesto. The answer? Marriage! He’s soon betrothed to Sofronia, which audiences will notice looks a lot like Ernesto’s lover, Norina… ❣

In Barbe and Doucet’s production, Don Pasquale’s weakness is cats. He adores them but has an allergy to them! Critically acclaimed and adored the world over, this whimsical whisker-fest blends classic opera with comedic cat-astrophe, creating a night at the opera you won’t soon fur-get.
