DIY Jeep Build | Living In A Jeep Wrangler Full Time

I live in my jeep full time traveling around the states exploring nature. I don’t have a roof top tent, I live inside of my jeep. I did a rebuild on the inside of my jeep and am pretty happy with this one as I have added a drawer system and few other things. Everything is done by me and doesn’t take alot of work to do. I like to keep it easy and simple, light and like a little home.

  1. Weight distribution !!! Yes…very important,as jeeps tend to wander a bit..even my 2 door wrangler …which is nothing compared to your 4 door beauty …love the thought process you put into the build

  4. I don't live out of my JKUR, also on 37s, which would be very…challenging, but I do multi-day camping trips. You're absolutely right in that weight is the enemy. I made a platform *very* much like that, but struggled with the inability to be in the back and sit up to do things like change clothes. Instead I removed that and made a short platform over the hole where the back seats were and sleep on that and the floor to the tailgate. Built a shelf in the back my feet slide under. Another shelf behind driver seat for the fridge. Lots of storage under platforms and shelves, and can still sit up from sleeping and easily get out the back door. Little wood and little weight for it all.

  5. Brilliant idea to do the insulation! Have you considered putting solid, outdoor-rated solar panels on your roof rack between the storage containers? They would charge your Jackery all day every day automatically, without having to stop and pull out your panels, but would require drilling a hole in the hardtop to run the wires. Also, in the JK fuse box under the hood, you can move a fuse over to make the rear 12-volt outlet be hot only when the ignition is on. You could then run a 12-volt cable from it to your jackery which would charge the jackery automatically anytime the engine is running, but not drain the starter battery when the ignition is off. No hole in the hardtop required for that option. So there should be some options to help reduce the need to stop to setup to charge the jackery. 😊

  6. Huge improvement, yes, I'm sure you will find more ways later on… I'm just worried about how to manage gallons and gallons of water needed for drinking, cooking, and cleaning, just for a few days when I go somewhere, anywhere… 🌧💧🤔
