For the evo mechanics, you got it right. Every new evolution adds some lifespan to the digimon. In theory, changing evo paths can lead to infinite lifespan if you keep adding everyday.
The DMK's evolution method is so cool! That means you can battle your long raised digimon digimon with others who just started without feeling like bullying. Bandai pls take note 🫵

Ah, the good old Xros Wars device. Back before we had access to the dm20, I remember wanting to explore Digimon devices. I was coming from tamagotchi and giga pets but I wanted to see what Digimon was like. I was seriously considering the Xros Wars device because at the time it was the most readily available (lol). I ended up passing on it since the reviews I read said the gameplay wasn't like a typical vpet. I eventually got into the franchise when I found a DM20 randomly while shopping at a GameStop. Thank God that's the device I started with, because if I had gone with the Xros Wars device, I probably would've written off the series as a whole lol
