I keep wondering, how many miles of range will a full battery and full tank of diesel provide?
This is how vehicles should be designed. Simple. Easy to work on. Built to last. Efficient power delivery. And maybe most importantly: free to modify.
This is the furthest thing from an Apple Truck with serialised parts. Chase&co will probably help you with changing any part on this truck if needed whereas Tesla requires certified diagnostic tools to even think about modifying.
From what I have seen the Tesla semi has doors on both sides
He drove away, like the trailer wasn't even attached. I guess this truck will pull way more before it needs to really work hard.
I've asked for years why hasn't anyone made a diesel electric truck. It works for freight trains so why not trucks. This is great.
I can see the potential for this being used in the mining industry where trucks like in Australia, mining road trains can haul up to 8 trailers holding 40 tonne each, having electric drive axles mid way in the road train to add to the power of the combination. And like they said about regenerative braking, it would work well.
This guy needs to talk to the US Government. This setup could have great military use.
You guys are making way too much sense. Your going to get a lead allergy if you keep it up. Just kidding, but in all seriousness, safety first my friend. It’s awesome that you are doing what your doing and showing the whole world while you do it.
Economic failure.
It’s called Planned Obsolescence.
Once you cover demand you will then be obsolete. Look into it it’s a shame but it’s world wide thing that got you septic tanks (Yanks)out of your depression all those years ago.
For years I’ve driven along trains on the interstates and said Why are we not doing that. A smaller engine powering an electric motor driving closer to 100% efficiency straight to the drivetrain. But okie
Janus in NSW Australia is retrofitting existing trucks with straight EV tech using interchangeable shift batteries. Some of their trucks are rated up to 165 tonnes
Man i really want a conversion kit for my pickup

just take it down the road just keep it to your salf
Love it ❤❤❤❤❤ I was talking about that idea of the Genset with a young engineering student 3 years ago I am so glad someone made it work 😊😊😊😊
The next step would be having electric motors in the trailer, powered from battery and/or generator, turning the truck into an articulated 10×12.
Also, for even better visibility, have the "cabover" with batteries under cab, then have the diesel generator (or whatever alternative electric generation metod) behind the cab. And you can also mount it transverse, so it doesn't take that much length, especially if you use diesel engine this small.
Also, as European, I'd love to see Tatra made like this. Might be tricky with the tubular spine, but it could also make the whole system better.
What an absolutely awesome video guys, you two make a great pair. The look on Richs' face when Chace was backing the rig off the scales was priceless. Great promo as well Chace.
The walking beam 50k pound rated axles are great for logging, dump trucks. When I say great for dump trucks its mandatory. For logging trucks walking beam give you more traction. The Mack camel back walking beam axles are probably some of the most notorious in history. I don't wish the Camel Back walking beam axles on my enemy. The Hendrix waking beam Axles are much easier to service work with. For over the road trucks they are over kill and you lose the ride comfort plus you're doing a lot more living in over the road truck you want a comfortable nice ride. Hybrid diesel electric Trucks. Sure why not. Toyota has been doing Priuses now for two decades almost. Their would be learning to curve to figure out how to work on Hybrid Electric Trucks. But so is also the challenge with Emissions, DPF Exhaust systems. With DPF exhaust emissions systems its mandatory to have them, service them and the dealers will impound your truck at their location while you the EPA levies fines and you have to put up money into escrow. Hybrid Diesel Electric Trucks do it. Locally logging or dump truck I would drive a hybrid like this truck looks more like its Mad Max. I get its function over form. It looks more military than civilian. Put a Peterbilt day cab on it problem solved in my opinion. Other than that beautiful lets see it work in the field.
That truck is everything the tesla joke should be. 🇬🇧☺
I absolutely love this. More than 30 years ago I wished I could use the same concept that trains use and build trucks. I get so upset with the dumb engineering in the hybrid vehicles. I don’t want a transmission with a built in generator. This video gives me hope and makes me proud to be a Canadian. Now make me a retrofit for my 2017 f150 SE Lariat 2 wheel dr.
