She’s finally here! After a couple episode in the bomb zone we get saved with a visit from Lois Lane herself, Erica Durance!

Erica shares a lot from her early time on the show – the nerves of coming on to an established series, some unfriendly welcomings to the cast, comfortability with certain types of scenes with Tom, and more!

Before we get the Clois reunion, though, Tom and Michael takes us through a cut-and-dry FOTW storyline in Smallville Season 4 Episode 4: DEVOTED.

  1. I honestly think that Tom and Michael watching the show is awesome. I also love how with Tom watching the show he is already seeing the romantic bantering between clois, when the bantering isn’t even in its romantic prime yet. Also I feel Tom will now see what everyone on the show including producers, directors, castmates, and obviously the fans have been saying that Erica and him have amazing chemistry. Especially as the seasons go on.

  2. Erica and Tom still have that chemistry just wonderful like people that stuff click ❀ this episode just no πŸ’£ bomb it's like a repeat of Desaray again omg that kitten so adorable!! Love how of course louis solved it as her reporter vines coming in

  3. one thing that bothers me about this ep. when people are holding their kryptonite drinks near Clark, how come he never felt weak like with Lana's necklace? is it cause it's been watered down into drink form? also, when looking at it, he never questioned it? with everything else green in Smallville, i would've been suspicious

  4. FIrst of all, it was great to see Erica. We can all see in hindsight how much she lifted up the show. That being said, with Michael's apathy about these episodes, I can't wait until they get to season 8. He's going to be yelling "this is what happened after I left the show?? Those old episodes I gave bombs to were great compared to this! Three bombs!!"

  5. Did anyone else notice that Clark is not wearing the same helmet when he is throwing the football. It goes from a new helmet to an old helmet. You can tell from the facemask, I just thought it was funny πŸ˜‚

  6. Its funny how the so called "adults" in Smallville are completely irresponsible: Jason having a relationship with a high school girl. Lex hanging around high school kids. The clueless sheriff. Lex's "security" never being there when he needs them. Lionel being Lionel.

  7. Erica Tom and Michael. You guys are my favorite Lex, Lois a nd Clark trio. I say this in a world where Margot Kidder Gene Hackman and Chris Reeves have played the roles. The thing I have longed for the most is to see the three of you in a Smallville sequel movie or series that is actually a superman narrative in the Smallville universe. Michael and Tom the brotherhood you brought to these characters was so impactful for me and many others. Erica brought a side of Lois that made her more than a one dimensional reporter that needed to be saved. The Vulnerability that Erica allowed in her performance of Lois brought us into the character and made us care about her not just the endgame of Lois and Clark. Michael you made me care about Lex in a way that goes beyond a villain that is misunderstood. I cant thank the three of you enough for your work on this show.

  8. The entirety of Season 4 is all about asking the question;
"What if Kryptonite affected the horny teenagers?"

I promise you, that is the whole of Season 4. Horny teenagers stalling cave discoveries. Just skip straight on to Season 5.

  9. I love how Clark hides behind Lois and Chloe when they're facing off with Mandy, but when the burly dudes with baseball bats show up a second later, his whole demeanor instantly changes to "I got this" as he steps in front of them. πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚

Thanks for bringing Erica on! Love the different perspectives.

  10. 1. The first thing to answer Tom's question is that when Clark drank the kryptonite love potion, it made him human not on a DNA level but in a weak no power type of way. This kind of makes sense since kryptonite tends to take away his powers, or at least makes him human enough that you can hurt him or even kill him. Now, imagine drinking it and having it inside his system – he wouldn't have any powers until it is flushed out of his system.

    2. Lois didn't know about his powers; she only knew that heat makes the love potion wear off. After she kicked Chloe and she burnt her hand on the pipe, she realized this. Seeing those boys, she knew that heat would cause the love drug to wear off. So, when she was fighting those boys and she looked up and saw a heat canister, she then asked, "Got any explosion up your sleeve?" It was a rhetorical question, kind of like when you are in a pinch and you ask your friend, "got [insert name here] up your sleeve". I have done that but I don't expect them to have it, it just a rhetorical question.

    3. The ending scene with Alison Mack was incredible – you could feel the emotion as she confessed her love for Clark, only to not have it returned. To not make it awkward she tries to make jokes yet you can see the pain in her face in her voice as she tries to hold it in, but when Clark kissed her on the cheek, you could see the raw emotion on her face, the vulnerability, her voice almost breaking because she so upset, tears in her eyes not just on her face but resonating from her very presence because she loves Clark and he will never love her. Alison was able to portray the emotion incredibly well, both in her face and in her voice. What made the scene even more incredible was the music cutting in – Smallville had the best music. This is why I, and so many of us, love Smallville. I will love it till the day I die.

I love Erica Durance; she is incredible. To borrow a phrase from Q in Star Trek when he told his son, "A Q has told you once, they have told you a hundred times," and I am saying casting Erica as Lois was incredible. I love her and love watching her in this interview, and her chemistry with Tom is incredible. I know they reunited in Crisis on Earth and they still had the chemistry.

  11. I know one of the people Erica is talking about not getting along with her on the set. Allison Mack. The other one ( I’m guessing on ) is the girl who played Clark’s sister. I’m not sure on that one but I have a feeling πŸ€”

  12. I bring up Alison acting in ending scene because she was able to play the emotion incredible well, unlike the other guy last week when he saw his face in the mirror and said "oh my face" – no emotion nothing, just said his lines like he was talking – worse acting ever IMHO. I think they needed someone to play a jock and they cast an extra because he looked the part. If not I do hope his acting has improved.

  13. The series needed comedy relief episodes. It would have never lasted as long without it, because other subjects easily get too dark. Remember, this is not JUST a horror series, or just a scfi drama, it's based on a comic and comics have always thrown in occasionally humorous one off stories to break some tension of serious themes.

  14. Erica is my absolute FAVORITE Lois!!! She is gorgeous, and I never realized it before Tom mentioned it, but it IS a Moonlighting tension that is freaking AWESOME! Also, this was BETTER than last episode… so HALF a Rose??? WHAT THE??? LOL. Looking forward to next week.
