  1. Children flourish under a certain amount of neglect.
You should really try to have one or two more children than you really need, so there are spares.
Seriously, I loved the freedom of childhood.
It was important to develop the right survival instincts by surviving dangers alone, without adult supervision.
It was important to learn how to deal with strangers and hostile adults.
It was important to learn how to handle guns and explosives safely when no one was watching.
There were almost never adults around when I was a kid, except for the ones that would show up to make threats, to twist your ear, or slap your head.
We were grateful for the absence of adults, wherever we could manage it.
Then there was "baby on board", soccer moms taking the kids to play dates, and a whole generation of kids who never breathed without adult supervision.
Parents wear themselves out these days, because they don't chase the children out of the house anymore.
"Get out of the house and don't come back until sunset!"
Who did they think they were kidding?
Half the time, they didn't notice when you came home after midnight.
And it was easy to sneak out in the middle of the night.
Some kids don't survive the freedom.
The world has a hard time accepting that.
But how well have they been surviving the restriction?
Kids weren't committing suicide when they were free.

  2. New parents are the most insufferable people of all time. They are basically identical to narcissists. I find it mildly amusing that grown men weep when their child grows up and they find out their friends weren't waiting patiently for 20 years to hang out with them again. All of them moved on because they found out you can't manage your time. Some parents are actually able to have kids and still treat other people with respect, it is rare, but, it does happen.

  3. Many of us have been there, done that; or the human race wouldn't be here. 🤣 And yes there is a change in your freedom. You'll look back with fond memories.
You might think you're going insane.🤪 But you're not. 🤗 Your brains will return to you when they're 5. At that age they can be more independent and not a constant WATCH.
