HOLY SHIT a 2 hour video essay on my favorite zombie game EVER??? You treat us too well Nedley
After 40 hours, I've just got the best ending on this 1st opus, which marks my entry into this license. My best videogame experience of 2023. Like Dark Souls, it confronts you with seemingly insurmountable obstacles requiring learning and perseverance, but also letting go, curiosity and creativity.
Its proposal is to let you loose in a restricted but highly interactive environment, for a duration of 3 days (6 real hours), with autonomous, time-limited events that you are free to disrupt. And a word of warning to completionists: you won't reach 100% in 6 hours. This is a rogue-lite where you can retry the story at a higher level, but above all explore places in 4D (temporally) at specific times. You'll have to go through several runs to test new approaches, optimize your time and discover new secrets, etc.
All everyday objects, even the most mundane, can be used as weapons. There are just over 200 of them, more or less useful, effective or just plain fun. Searching for them and going back for them is a time-consuming investment in consumable resources, with a time limit.
You'll often arrive late, let an NPC die or fail a mission. It's normal, at first, you're slow, fragile and unaware of the help around you. Keep going, and you'll be able to try again in a few hours, better prepared. If the main campaign is no longer available, you have more time to explore and appropriate the tools of your future success. The difficulty curve increases in real time, much faster than you level up, and you're going to die a lot. If your last manual save wasn't too long ago, try again to gather information (on a boss, on what's around you "at the time"), even if this invariably ends in failure. Finally, when you've had enough, start a new run. You'll be stronger and more knowledgeable, and you'll be able to explore other areas at other times.
When I was stuck in the middle of the campaign, I took a long break to get my head cool and my knowledge fresh. I smashed 2 bosses without difficulty and obtained an ending within 2 hours and the other 6 endings within 8 hours of trying hard.
For the 1st boss, when I started out, I had invested several hours in farming a few levels, but thanks to my present knowledge, I was able, at a low level (on a new file), to take him down in 30s and 15min of preparation.
Zombies are obstacles that slow you down. And time isn't your enemy, it's a rival and an ally. The more you play, and learn to play, the more you'll be rewarded for expressing your creativity and having fun. This game is a challenge and a playground. The more you run, the more you'll enjoy running.
Welp, Better get the popcorn out and enjoy the video! And thank you Nedley for everything you do love your videos although I haven't seen most of them every time I come back you can tell there's improvement and actual passion which is missing in most modern day youtubers. Thank you and much love!
I LOVE THIS GAME ITS SO FUN

Excellent work with the video 🙂 Dead Rising 2 and it's other version "Off The Record" are my favorites in the series. 3 I thought was okay, but I have not played DR4.
Dead rising 1 and 2 are goat. 3 was okay. 4 was complete shit and glad I avoided it >:3
