Dave Rubin & Peter Boghossian Play Spectrum Street Epistemology

Longtime friends Peter Boghossian and Dave Rubin met in London for a game of Spectrum Street Epistemology. They each presented claims of personal and global significance, ranging from the best states in the US to potential threats to gay rights. Several pointed claims were discussed regarding the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and associated issues. Dave provides insight into his beliefs about anti-Semitism and the limits of free speech.

Dave Rubin is the host of The Rubin Report, which was originally a segment on the progressive Young Turks network (TYT). He cofounded the community platform Locals in response to censorship on Patreon. As a comedian, Dave interned on The Daily Show with Jon Stewart and co-founded several comedy clubs in New York city. He is the bestselling author of “Don’t Burn This Book: Thinking for Yourself in an Age of Unreason” and “Don’t Burn This Country: Surviving and Thriving in Our Woke Dystopia.”

  1. I'm always shocked when people from UK/US think Orbán is something special. In short; he cares nothing but power. I could go on for hours about him, and that's from someone more from the right wing and someone who voted for him.

  2. Dave really doesn't get enough credit. He has an actual understanding of these concepts beyond the talking points. People see that he's affable and amicable and make assumptions that don't seem fair to me.

  3. Pretty proud to hear what you said about Hungary, Dave. Thank you.
Had the privilege to shake hands with Peter not long ago in Debrecen, Hungary. Pretty proud about that too. Thank you for what you do!

  4. Something happens to your brain. That's kind of unique when you learn a primary and a secondary language. And it turns out to be very useful the way that your brain develops. I wonder if it helps you to better understand other cultures other than your own, considering that we think using language.

  5. I mean, by “anti-Semitism” people usually mean the prejudice towards the Jews, when it comes to the Arabs, the word that is usually used is “Islamophobia” — though I am aware that not all Arabs are Muslims, in which case the terms “racism” or “chauvinism” is probably more appropriate.

  6. @10:55 I'm not a fan of said congresswoman but her point about jews settling in the west bank is that they ARE ILLEGAL settlements. Rubin obviously feels that Israelis are entitled by divine providence. And him bringing up Jesus as a Jew who would be expelled is extraordinarily disingenuous considering that Jews dont believe Jesus to be the Messiah much less Christ, but Muslims DO acknowledge Jesus's status as a recognized Messiah. Muslims, Jews and Christians lived together for over 1000 years prior to the Zionist state.
Christians have been making pilgrimages to Jerusalem and Bethlehem FOR 2000 YEARS without harm to them. Yet NOW there's video after video of Israelis spitting at Christian pilgrims visiting the holy cities.
At around 17:00 he claims that Palestine isnt being occupied because its not a state. Well, Rubin, international human rights organizations and UN countries dont call it the Occupied Palestinian Territories for nothing, and the use of the term APARTHEID to describe israels cruel and domineering militaristic hold onto Palestinians wasn't dreamed up cause everyone's antisemitic.
You use the term antisemitic coerce people into covering their eyes, or tell them to cover their "lying" eyes or else suffer the consequences that'll be enforced by governmental powers…
Its this arrogance that people are bucking

  7. Omg this guy Rubin is so raunchy @23:28 How convenient to completely veil over the bloody history of British Palestine from 1917-1947 whereas the jews who moved to Palestine were militants and terrorists against the British government for that entire period and the Arabs fought on Britain's side. Bloody bombings and terrorists acts perpetrated by Jews.
Its wasnt some benign right of passage. The jews saw it totally as a holy war
The allies saw the jewish state as a strategical promise land.
Truman complained that the jews wanted the entirety of Palistine handed to them on a silver platter while he said its impossible to move 5-6 million people at one time.
And FYI Palestine was a thriving metropolitan tourist area for its time. The holy lands were active. A Palestinian who wanted to travel had a Palestinian passports prior to the creation of Israel.
He and his cause make it sound like Palestinians by in large were absolute simpletons.

  8. This guy is such a complete grifter. All he does is spew out right wing nonsense from Ben Shapiro and tucker Carlson and can’t debate to save himself. I think this street epistemology would do better if Sam sedar was here which would’ve made Dave shiver in his Timbers.
