As a conservative, I don't mind change but there are good changes and bad changes. Changes made for the wrong reason are bad. If you re-make a move to be more inclusive or to update the story line, I'm all for it. But Disney specifically admitted that they were attempting to indoctrinate children with woke ideology. That's a bad change.

Ana, the original writing Snow White was super dark. If we went by your logic we’d end up with nothing close to the Snow White you wanted. But the Snow White the Grimm Brother wrote. The Disney original Snow White was itself a remake.

Anna can STFU about changing the story and true love blah blah blah… Literally, the whole story of Snow White, as Disney made it, was her opening the movie singing about “someday my prince will come” or something similar and then she almost gets killed by the hunter and runs away, then she moves in with the dwarfs and BECOMES THEIR HOMEMAKER, eats the poison apple, until finally she gets kissed BY A STRANGER WHILE UNCONSCIOUS and becomes his bride basically!!! And, as an aside, what is a woman’s only duty in the royal family? To BE BRED!! So YES, I think a new story with giving her more agency is a GREAT idea!
I completely agree with you Anna. There is nothing wrong with the classic fairy tales nor is there anything wrong with the idea of true love and saving someone or a man or woman saving someone. You have to be a miserable cynic to reject the idea completely or hate on beautifully written stories that are beloved by millions of people around the world. The Disney original Snow White was itself a remake. The story of Snow White has been told in cinema over and over again within the century. Hell!!! The Betty Boop series from Max Fleischer's Fleischer Studios made Snow White story before Disney back on 1933. The OG story came from Brother's Grimm collection from the early 19th century in Germany. There are so many things to unload about this version of Snow White that Disney has made and will be released on 2024. I can't really agree with both Cenk and Ana's position on this story but anyways, Disney did this to themselves. I'm not really a big fan of Snow White, so I don't really have a leg to stand on for this film, I know I'm not going to watch it. Disney made Snow White and the Seven Dwarves back in 1937. It was their first animated motion picture. I want everyone who are reading this post to Let that sink in for a second. This film immortalized this Fairy tale in cinema and pop culture for over 80 years. Say what you will, but that's the truth. So instead of directily adapting the film from their own original rendition (Snow White and the Seven Dwarves)—- they decided to what? bastardize it??!! Rachel Zegler was just the messenger and a bad one at that. I don't think she deserves all the hate but she didn't really come out positive either. This really shows how out of touch Disney is, especially with a story they adapted themselves over 80 years. Go Figure😔
AS far as Dwarfs go… the dwarfs in Snow White aren't "little people" at all… they are, as based on Norse myths and such, a different race of beings. So, got nothing to do with what we consider "dwarfs" today. To be offended by them in any way or to complain about how they are cast, is nonsense any way it's sliced.
did no one watch snowwhite and the huntsman? the one with thor and charlize theron as the evil queen? they hired normal sized actors and made it short as the dwarfs, ala how peter jackson did his dwarfs and hobbits. and they look great!
