  1. A little pocket sized folding knife is a handy tool for a woman to have. I keep a little pink pearl handled one in my purse. Ya jut never know! Do you have illustrations that you could show of these wonderful stories you read to us? The carving of the figures would be lovely to see. Santa Claus is fixin to hitch up those reindeer. He's polishing up the runners and the bells. And checking the latest info on his GPS system.πŸ˜„

  2. Can you imagine just how tedious but beautiful the Carving are? I pictured the carvings as you read about them! That's something that's almost a lost Art! I remember my Great PawPaw, my Grandpaw, and my Daddy whittling away on a piece of wood! They would make beautiful little pieces! I remember my Great PawPaw carving my Mama a Bird out of a piece of Red Cedar! She hung it in the livingroom so you could smell it! I don't know what ever happened to it. I was about 5 yrs old. Baby Jesus would be a treasure to have! I'd simply adore one! Thank you Tipper! Have a Wonderful Day! Merry Christmas God Bless. πŸ™β€πŸŽ„πŸŽπŸπŸŽ„πŸŽπŸ

  3. I don't know what virgin holly means but I too have carved from holly. Holly is a heavy and dense. It grow in the understory so it's annual rings are often imperceptible. The wood is a light cream color if it has been properly seasoned.

Holly is, for me, hard to carve. I have never tried to carve figurines which are exponentially harder than what I do.

What kind of rolling pin do you like? Long ago somebody promised you one and someone has never forgotten. Do you like the chunky store bought ones with the handles that turn or do you like the longer thinner ones that you roll with the palm of your hand like professional pastry chefs use?
