Operation Avalanche was not going well. Body counts were quickly adding up and the allied invasion of Italy at Salerno during World War II was looking like a failure. Objectives were being taken back and forth multiple times a day and green allied forces suffered against veteran german soldiers.
The Forgotten D-Day was coming to an end.

  1. 5:205:37 that sounds awfully similar to the tactics employed by the Maori during the Tauranga campaign (particularly at Gate Pā)- the difference being that the Maori could simply make their own hills to bunker down in before retreating and doing it all over again

  2. We caught them in the hills. For each enemy felled we lost three of our own. A heavy toll, but their Reich was lost to history on the backs of those dead men.

  3. My grandfather was involved in this operation and his story is a little different. Also for the first half of the video the drawings you were calling Sherman's were actually Wolverine's (a very distinctive turret).
