  1. You would think that Tesla would announce something because people have to make travel arrangements and hotels and all that why wouldn't they announce it already

  2. FSD needs some sort of communication input from the driver. I can give instructions to my Uber driver but FSD can only respond to a navigation point. This is very frustrating and makes 50-75 percent less functional than it could be

  3. Just FYI, recall that Peter Bannon mentioned that they are not doing power over Ethernet in cybertruck as power lines "too noisy" when asked during the Menroe interview done shortly after the cybertruck delivery event

  4. Ethernet based “Closed loop” redundancy is something I’ve been using for years in my industry, it’s amazing and when implemented correctly gives you instantaneous feedback on system health and the knowledge that even a break in a line won’t stop you.

  5. I have a rumor: Elon is letting the FUD fly for another day or two and will send out invites to the 8/8 event next week, never commenting on the Gloomberg story, but giving a great big GFY to all the dolts who stupidly and greedily repeated the rumor or made a big deal about it.

It doesn't matter to me if 8/8 happens in August or at 8:08 am on the 8th of October, or next year. Sure it wouldn't surprise me were Tesla to delay the event; Elon's time estimates are famously optimistic, but then, the Tesla & Elon hating hack who made an allegation that the event was being delayed seems to be trying hard to move Bloomberg's credibility right up there with The National Enquirer and its ilk, so her story actually makes me think it more likely that the event will be on 8/8.

  6. I believe Tesla is already over laying their map data on top of Google maps. Many times when the Tesla mapping is incorrect. I looked to Google maps on Android and it maps accurately. I've had multiple occasions at multiple intersections where the Tesla planning stack, all of sudden thought it could not make a left-hand turn so it decided to go down to another intersection. Make a u-turn, and then magically a week later it fixes itself again. Google maps at those intersections has always worked. I do believe there's a lot of potential for Teslas to add value to real time mapping however, how do you verify this data and how do you invalidate it after a period of time.

  7. Vehicle to fleet communication ? Same as real time car to car communication … ie if your Tesla at 10am goes to Disney world and while you were driving there, you may have encountered some type of back up in traffic… I leave with my Tesla about 15 mins after you and I have same destination…your Tesla can communicate with my Tesla to give that traffic info, and my Tesla can choose another route to avoid that traffic??

  8. Most people got from the "88 delay to October" feeling WRONG !!!
It is s big VERY good move. It is an "ACCELERATION", NOT a "DELAY" !

Elon sent Tom Zhu back to China, it is the first step of a NEW PLAN.
Several major cities in China, now, begin to have RoboTax operation by different Chinese companies.
Due to the FSD rapid progress and China's attitude toward FSD, TESLA is trying a real "Trail RoboTax" in China and US,
instead of "88 RoboTax information Release".
Tom Zhu has the duty of:
    1. Transfer TESLA China data back to US to train a China version of FSD.
    2. Collect all the Chinese RoboTax offering information.
    3. Produce RoboTax car suitable for China operation.
    4. Create a business operation plan and associated software for TESLA China operation.

  9. Meanwhile here in Australia all we have is a very antiquated highway stack and no FSD elsewhere and no sign of it coming. I paid for it five years ago and have basically just subsidized US drivers – your welcome 😐

  10. All the YouTubers doing the exact same thing. Just repeating the MSm rubbish. Everything to discredit Elon . Wish all you guys would be more upfront and transparent that most likely false

  11. If you know how trains can send and receive telegraph messages while traveling. Or how DCC controlled HO model trains operate. Then you know the complex simplicity of high frequency single, double and triple wire communication and control of Tesla's Ether Loop.

  12. Can t wait for next update replacing 12.4.3! I am experiencing major regressions with 12/4/3 over 12/3/6 to the point I don't trust the software. Even recalibrated the cameras wth no improvement. I have been using FSD since 2020 when I bought my model Y. and now rely on FSD daily to drive me around so I am a bit bummed out! 🙁🇨🇦

  13. Cybercab unveiling may be delayed while Robotaxi Day happens as scheduled on 8/8/24. All of these media analysts are not really listening to what Elon has been saying (in very precise terminology).

"Robotaxi" is literally a robotic taxi. With OTA updates to vehicles and the Tesla App, when FSD becomes unsupervised, the Robotaxi App enhancements will enable ANY Tesla model S3XY and Cybertruck with HW3/HW4+ to become a Robotaxi! From day one!!!

"Cybercab" is a two-seater autonomous-only instantiation of a Robotaxi. This auto, being a "cyber" vehicle, will have 48V, steer-by-wire, brake-by-wire, Etherloop, and wireless charging. Tesla bought that wireless charging technology company for a very good reason!

The Cybervan will be along the same lines and be staffed with Optimus robot(s).

Robotaxi Day is not being called Cybercab Day or Cybervan Day for a very good reason.

    Don't bet against Elon!

  14. I thought years ago, TESLA should have their own 'silicon foundry' to make their own chips. But outsourcing is cheaper when you have such as TSMC, Panasonic, Samsung, etc (Motorola sold their foundry in Austin years ago – I worked there in the late 1990s).

  15. So, my question is, How will this new wiring architecture and assembly method affect the repairability of Tesla's vehicles? Will it be harder or easier to identify and replace faulty components?

  16. So… what if Elon moves CyberCab reveal to October. Perhaps 10/10?
Per google: "Number 10, often regarded as lucky in Chinese culture, holds a profound significance as it symbolizes perfection and completion."

  17. So it's kind of an Ethernet-based token ring. Presumably the ring operates in both directions, for redundancy, like many of the earlier token rings. Otherwise, it's not clear why the loop would be prefereable to a single bus or a tree structure. It will be interesting to see a complete technical description of this.

  18. I hope they'll also let drivers report map problems. I have a weird situation where you have to jog left from a stop sign onto a little frontage road. If you jog right you enter against a "do not enter", which is an exit from the main road. Very weird intersection, which should be a roundabout. But V12 has been attempting the right jog, which would both not get you where you were going but also put you in mortal danger.
