  1. First time I drove that ‘scary spot’ was around 2004 when I was a young kid on a 150 Suzuki four wheeler. Spent a lot of time down in that bend. Used to be tons of great mud down there from the flood. Seemed like much simpler times

  2. With higher octane fuel, you can run more timming for a bit better mpg & more power, so the internet slooths are actually wrong as two left shoes. There is one trade off that you have to keep an eye on with added timming & that is added heat aka water temps. I like to run a cooler 160deg thermostat in hot weather, it will still jump up to 200 but keeps the flow open. If you have any where around your ac condenser that air can pull in around the sides….. the AC won't cool down unless your traveling fast to increase air flow. We run washer squirters & a gallon tank in front of our ac/radiators with a momentary push switch. It's amazing how fast it will cool the engine down too! Used it for racing alot!

  3. "It's a dry heat!"
The way I explain it to people is:

"It's like sticking your head in a convection oven"
Preheat your oven to 220+. (This will usually balance to approx. 115-120 with the average room temp in a small area) Then set a small fan set on low in a chair next to it, pointing in to it.
Next, stick your upper body into the oven. (over the lowered door, for safety)
You'll feel the moisture drying out of your skin, if you sit there long enough….

  4. Yeah, it’s a dry heat. I’ve lived both in the desert near where you guys work, and in the humidity of Texas and Arkansas. Humidity makes you sweat without doing anything. Dry heat feels like an oven and no breezes help unless you’re sweating. Humidity makes you sweat which doesn’t help much if there is no breeze. I don’t like humidity because it’s miserable to be wet all the time when outside. But don’t like feeling like I’m baking to death on the sun either. It’s a tossup.

  5. Couple of years ago we had a 39°C (102°F) degree day where I live in Alberta. I decided to put out my deck recliner and lay down outside in the direct sun. It felt like I was inside a furnace and the air was all wavy. I may have had an out of body experience. I lasted about ten minutes before beating a retreat to the A/C indoors. You folks work in temperatures higher than that, which puts you beyond reproach in my eyes.

  7. just wanted to comment on what octane fuel to use, if you do not need high octane fuel it has no benefit, 87 octane fuel has more btu ( more power per gallon), but if you have a high compression engine it may detonate on 87 octane, this is not good, most newer engines have sensors that will see detonation and the computer will retard ignition timing and go to a rich fuel mixture, this will kill your fuel economy ( but save your engine)best way to see if you need it is to check your mpg, if premium gas does not give you higher mpg do not use it, this does not apply to non computer engines, for those just listen for that rattle sound and use higher octane if you hear it

  8. I live in Tennessee where there often is very little wind to give relief in hot weather. I lived in Kansas where it gets hotter than Tennessee, but the heat in Kansas wasn't as bad because of the wind. Kansas isn't as dry as Utah, but it is dryer than Tennessee. Wind is a factor that helps with the heat. My wife is from Texas and I know that the summers there are like an oven (probably like Utah).

  9. The dry heat is awful due to the fact that the ground gets hot and stays hot. We live in Northern California, at the top of the Sacramento Valley. Our summer temperature has been 100+ for the last 3 weeks. We also have the dry heat. The only place to be is the lakes and rivers nearby or the backyard pool. Enjoy your videos very much.
