Norwegian Cruise Line recently announced that Norwegian Sun will have all sailings canceled from March 25th through November 25th, 2023. The cruise line stated that this was due to necessary fleet redeployment. This has fueled rumors about the future of the ship, which is the second oldest in NCL’s fleet having launched in 2001. Affected passengers will receive a full refund plus a 10% future cruise credit. The itineraries will be covered by the Norwegian Sky.
In other cruise news, Carnival Cruise Line revealed the epic Thanksgiving feast being planned across its 23 ship fleet this year. Over 48,000 pounds of turkey, 600 gallons of gravy, and 20,900 pumpkin pies are just some of the staggering food prep underway. For the first time there will also be an all-vegan Thanksgiving menu option. Meanwhile, MSC Cruises announced a $100 million enhancement plan for its Ocean Cay private island. New amenities will include watersport activities, island tours, a diving and snorkel center, additional dining options, and more. Staff accommodation facilities are also being expanded. However, P&O’s Pacific Explorer continues battling bed bugs which seem to be isolated to one stateroom at this time. This ship also had a recent plague soldier beetle infestation.
