  1. Man if I was paying for that cruise and the itinerary changed like that I’d expect a refund, to miss your port where you had plans is absurd. And before people comment with “have a heart” it’s the coast guard and navy’s job to deal with these issues, not a massive pleasure ship of people who are spending thousands to be there for a short time often their ONLY vacation of the year where time off work and money is precious to them. To put those people out at all is ridiculous, Royal Caribbean has to answer the call when requested however. I get why they had to do it per governmental request, but it really shouldn’t be on them, if this ongoing migrant issue continues to be a problem then there should be steps taken and watercraft involved for proper interception and transportation of these overcrowded migrant filled boats. Period. Goes to show government’s incompetence when a cruise ship has to save the day.

It’s not the cruise ship’s responsibility to save a severely overcrowded vessel of people trying to ILLEGALLY enter a country. Miss me on that.

  2. Royal Caribbean owes those customers something. Diverting because of things that are out of your control is one thing, but it was a decision to go do that. You're a cruise ship. Not a military vote. Why are you helping?

  3. It should be an obvious question, but in circumstances like this, how do they ensure the safety of crew and passengers? Is there some kind of secure holding area on the ship where they aren’t free to roam about? They could be pirates or criminals fleeing prosecution or prison escapees.

  4. If a cruise ship has to divert that far off course, that is completely unnacceptable! You pay for a cruise, not to play military rescue. The Greek authorities should have been responsible for that! I'd be pissed if I missed a port of call in Mykonos, due to migrants.

  5. This is becoming a MAJOR nuisance, to cruise passengers, maritime law or not! The Greek authorities knew about this ship, but couldn't lift a finger to go fetch them.

  6. I am glad the people were taken on board, fed and provided for and then dropped off somewhere safe. I do believe, however, that the ship should be required to still make both ports, or that some kind of compensation can be given for the passengers on board.
