Are you scared of everything?
I visited Machu Picchu as part of an escorted tour of Central and South America. We arrived in the city of Cuzco coming in from Lima the Peruvian capital the night before and took the train up in the early morning to avoid the summer heat. We did spent the morning there and have lunch at the visitor center before taking the train back down to the base and then return to Cuzco for the flight back to Lima. The trip is eminently doable as a group – even solo if you take the train. As to the altitude yes that can be an issue but there are oxygen masks available in case one needs them. The masks are also on hand in every hotel room in high altitude tourist areas. Just one more thing – calling all these locations countries is misleading. With the exception of Bhutan, North Korea and maybe one other place, the sites in the video are in countries or territories of countries. Thought I would clarify that.
Bhutan is worth the trouble. They make it difficult not for political reasons, but environmental ones. The people are some of the warmest and friendliest in the world. The country is pure and beautiful, and they want to keep it that way.
