Cottage loaded with history/Same family for 112 years/I find lots of cool old things

Hey house lovers and explorers! Today I take you through an old historic cottage “Tarawera” that was situated down in the Port Adelaide districts and was in the same family for 112 years.
Sadly the home is gone now but I was able to uncover a lot of history and add it to the video. I was also able to find cool old items as well that lead me to some very interesting and enjoyable research.
Hope you all enjoy the explore. Cheers for watching 🙂

  1. The envelopes you found were actually old telegram envelopes by the looks of them. All this stuff would have just been tossed away during the demolition, great work Paul in saving this stuff. Btw good work re the butterfly 😊 and one of the best explores

  2. This video was the best Ive seen, so much work has gone into the research which help paint the picture of this family, a family whose legacy was so significant it was immortalised in a boat museum…surely there family home deserved the same fate of restoration rather than demolition…. I'm glad you finally got there to made a historical record and find those amazing treasures…sad the ceiling rose which are hand made by a master plaster trained specifically are being demolished along with the pressed tin ceiling another hand crafted item….

  5. This is one of the most fascinating and enjoyable explores thanks Paul, where you captured the last of an old Adelaide suburban home, filled with many discarded treasures. Each item that you rescued from demolition, depicts a story of days gone by. From the spinning toy, match boxes, post cards, letter to the 1917 Florin Coin, were all equality brilliant finds. 😊

  8. Maybe you can aviod jail time Paul by NOT taking my advice of keeping a crowbar with you to pry up floors on future explores.

Having no home now I could have live here. My dad smoked Havelock Ready Rub. Wow. Thanks to the intro we understand the loss. People collect calendars. 🙌

  11. When you can add the history it makes the home come alive! Thank you for setting the butterfly free, you have “good heart”. I enjoyed seeing the spinning top. I had a similar style one when I was a little girl ( I’ll be 80 the end of this year 😳)! It had a round top piece that you put onto the stem and turned it till you couldn’t turn it anymore. Then there was a small nob on the top piece that you pushed down and the top would spin madly away and sometimes even bounce! My cat loved playing with it as much as I did. I had that top for many years, but I don’t know what became of it. Thank you Paul for reminding me of a fun memory! Glad you were able to save bits and pieces of this family’s history. Not being from Australia I’m wondering if you know what the meaning might be of “ Tarawera”? Have a good week and thank you 👍🏻😊🦋

  14. hi paul i have always liked the history you present of these much older styled cottage homes and going back a centuary ago all the old items you found are what i love seeing and being a past of our once history tobacco tins, match boxes spin tops all these kinds of things i would say would be great in a museum of heritage styled past times of what once was of how our products begun and the old style cottage i really liked it really was a time capsule would have been amazing if you caught before the selvaging process but love the representation you gave of this beautiful once cottage paul hope your going well mate and as always look forward to your next explore.

  15. EVEN IF YOU HUMAN SLAVES FILL THIS ENTIRE PRISON WORLD WITH FICTION ( MONEY DIAMOND GOLD SILVER ) THAT STILL CAN'T MAKE LAND PRODUCE TREES

WHY DO YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU NEED TO EARN & PAY FICTION ( MONEY ) TO BE ALIVE ?

WHY DO YOU HUMAN SLAVES BELIEVE THAT ARCHONS RULING YOU CAN CREATE FICTION ( MONEY ) WHILE YOU NEED TO EARN & PAY FICTION ( MONEY ) TO BE ALIVE ?

WHY DO YOU HUMAN SLAVES BELIEVE THAT FICTION ( MONEY ) IS REAL AND HAS VALUE ?

WHY DO YOU HUMAN SLAVES BELIEVE THAT ( DIAMOND GOLD SILVER ) HAVE MORE VALUE THAN LAND & TREES ?

ARCHONS RULING YOU HUMAN SLAVES CREATED FICTION ( MONEY ) TO MAKE YOU HUMAN SLAVES DO THE EVILS WHICH OTHERWISE YOU WOULD NEVER DO

  17. Very interesting episode.
I just looked up "Christmastide" that was mentioned on the greetings card, as I wondered what it meant. "Christmastide, also known as Christide, is a season of the liturgical year in most Christian churches".

  18. Your presentation throughout this video was fantastic. Thank you for all the extra research you included, loved hearing the extra nuggets of info and seeing your precious mementos. What great history. If the house had floors you wouldn’t have been so lucky so I hope that helped ease your disappointment. The closing image of the empty plot was bitter sweet and left me with lots of different emotions including leaking eyes. Very impactful. Well done.

  20. So sad to see a home that was built to last through everything being torn down, probably to be replaced with something that'll struggle to last a decade.
