Cop allegedly drives around with victim's dead body after striking them with vehicle

In this episode of True Crime Daily: The Podcast Updates: A New Jersey cop who hit a man with his car and then allegedly made several more questionable decisions.

On November 1, 2021, 29-year-old Damian Dymka was on his way home from a Halloween party when he lost his cell phone. He was walking along the shoulder of the Garden State Parkway when, at 3 a.m., Officer Louis Santiago allegedly struck him with his car. Damian died at the scene.

Louis was in the car with his cousin, Albert Guzman, and the two men left the scene and drove to Louis’ parent’s house to talk to Louis’ father, Lieutenant Luis Santiago. The younger Louis Santiago allegedly went back to the scene and put Damian’s body in his car. Lieutenant Santiago then called 911 to report the accident. Officer Santiago allegedly returned the scene again and put Damian’s body back on the Parkway before New Jersey State Police arrived.

On July 15, 2022, the Essex County Prosecutor’s Office indicted Officer Santiago on 16 charges, including vehicular homicide, tampering with evidence, hindering prosecution, and more. Lieutenant Santiago was charged with hindering the prosecution and official misconduct.

The three men have been released from custody and are awaiting court appearances.

  1. This story is so absolutely insane even for a regular citizen to have done — let alone an off-duty policeman and his relative! I doubt Hollywood could come up with something like this because what these three people did (one of which was a Lutenient) is SO CRAZY that it's hard to believe! What the off-duty police officer and his cousin did — is crazy! They run over and kill a pedestrian and then they pick up the body and put it in the trunk of the off-duty police officer's car and they drive around with it in the trunk.

  2. The off-duty police officer who hit the guy on the side of the road — everything that he did (the cover-up) was done BECAUSE law enforcement would have discovered and would have determined that Santiago was DUI and upon that conviction, I'm pretty sure that he would have been fired from the police department.

  3. Ana I love your variety of glasses! Greetings from Johannesburg, South Africa. Please have a look at the Henri van Breda axe murder in South Africa 2018 He wiped out his whole family in an upmarket rich area. His sister survived, but had some brain damage and cant remember anything.

  4. First of all the chic telkung this story doesnt know anyting about law enforcement or EMS. Moat of the times the police will scoop a victim up and take the victim to the hospital before EMS arrives. The man in this video understood that the original act of putting the victim in the car is not the issue. Everything they did after that was criminal

  5. I completely agree! That was completely disgusting and insensitive. I suppose that after some time, people like him become desensitized to these cases but what he said was completely awful and heartless

  6. He expects his father to cover up for him because they more than likely always have all is life.
They know he was stupid junk and mowed down Damian. He's entitled and spoiled. That's why he thinks he should not be held accountable.
