Concert at War: Leningrad Premiere of Shostakovich's 7th Symphony

Welcome to Soviet Journey. In this video, I present to you the premiere of Dmitri Shostakovich’s 7th Symphony, which took place on August 9, 1942, in the middle of the Siege of Leningrad, one of the longest sieges in history, in a documentary style.

This historical event in Leningrad (now St. Petersburg), which was under siege by the Nazis for 872 days and where a third of the population lost their lives, will interest you. Enjoy watching!

Thanks to Shane Ivers for the music used in the video.
