  1. We read it ourselves and tried to glean all the understanding we could, then we read "Isaiah made easy" books and gained more insights. Then I listened to this and FELT the message of Isaiah like never before! Not only are you a fabulous teacher but a pretty decent actor too. I felt the Lord's wrath and then I felt his compassion!! I felt my pride and my desire to repent and be humble. We felt so many strong things that made us want to change and be better than we've been.

  2. I suffer from a plethora of mental illness issues, unfortunately what happens when ones accidentally signed up for the devil's work, and just barely had their eyes opened? I get disability, owe back child support, been crying repentance and deep repentance of my own soul and short coming. What if this work was his work and he's about to show the Universes who's really in control of this ultimate game of life. Be prepared and keep the faith brothers and sisters. I pray we all find grace in his eyes when he needs us most. 🕊️🙏💖

  3. Hahah, Brother Halverson, your analogies crack me up and I love your insights…I am not a good student of Bible study in general and I never choose to read Isaiah…I thank you so much for the time and insights you put into all of your lessons🙌🏽Thank you❤️

  4. I don’t get the 7 women of the daughters of Zion (women of the church) clinging to one man for his name only because we don’t need his name in this modern day. We don’t need him to not be lonely because we have friends. And even if we want him just to have children, a part-time father in name only is a disaster for families. Further, these passages say nothing of the filth of the sons of Zion, which nowadays most are full of pornography issues, just to name one kind of filth. So I just don’t know if this is really about women and men, and polygamy coming back. Avraham Gileadi wrote that daughters of Zion represents wards, sons represent Stakes—hence, seven wards clinging to one stake, taking its name, but providing for their own ward’s needs, and washing away the pride and superficiality of their covenant-keeping or giving an outward appearance of faithful members, but they’re hollow inside. This meaning seems much more meaningful to me and rings true to me.

  5. Chapter 3 is clearly about what is coming to the people of God & should have been talked about as a specific warning to us instead of talked about in the past tense using they & them. The “stay & the staff” that will be taken is EVERYTHING. Unless we have our water, food storage & have gathered every needful thing, we will have nothing (Isaiah 3:10). That’s why we’re supposed to study Isaiah. You stated at the beginning of chapter 3 that this scripture is dedicated to the Daughters of Zion but doesn’t need to be gendered. That is very wrong! Twice Isaiah says that the Lord is speaking to the Daughters of Zion & it is VERY important that we know who we are! I understand you not wanting to be the mean guy here & point any fingers, especially at your listeners. But when you teach what the scripture says, you aren’t the bad guy, only the messenger & should make sure we understand the scripture so that we can repent & improve. Believe me, we, your listeners, want to hear the truth! We delight in the truth! This is why I’m surprised & disappointed that you labeled the specified Daughters of Zion & their pride & vanity as “it” & spoke of “it” as if “it” were the women of the world & someone distant. The women in chapter 3 of Isaiah were downplayed in your podcast to the point that it seemed more a warning for the brethren to be aware of such women than a warning to the sisters as it was meant to be. This wasn’t about the beauty of women tempting the men & should not have been joked about. This is about the unseen worldliness of the Latter Day Saint women, and the slaves to fashion reality (not metaphor) of our day. You have so many good & righteous listeners! This is exactly why you need to teach clearly that Isaiah is specifically calling out the Latter Day Saint women who are temple recommend holders! We, the Daughters of Zion who study diligently with you each week & who think we are doing everything as we should (just as the mindless worshipping & sacrifices of chapter 1) but may have hearts & minds that need to be humbled after being so richly & very abundantly blessed because of that very righteousness. We do not want to be a part of the chapter 3 fulfillment & suffer with the majority of the other Latter Day Saint women because we did not understand who this scripture was talking about. We want to be that righteous remnant that will be spared. Therefore we need to know to open our eyes & to make a change before it is too late. Isaiah is my favorite & I’ve been looking forward to the saints finally having an in depth study of it! ESPECIALLY CHAPTER 3! I’ve studied from Avraham Gilead & now find Isaiah very understandable with all of the imagery & word links. I thank the Lord every morning, noon & night for devoted & dedicated teachers like you and him! Thank you for sharing all your life’s learning, experiences & time! And thanks to your sweet wife & family! Please don’t let us skip past this very important truth or it will be as if you’re as the oblivious women who aren’t concerned about what’s really going on around them & what’s about to happen because of it.

  6. Goodly parents seek to raise daughters to one day bear goodly fruit of the womb; daughters of Zion is a reference to all of the Lord’s covenant people who are in the process of being made pure, holy, and without spot of darkness left within them.

  8. 1:03:251:05:30 The Why, Who, & What of Worship. That's interesting that, as you said, the kind of worship that God rejects is when we can't answer the why and the who.
It occurs to me that if we won't answer the why and who of worship, that may lead us to reject God, too.
Maybe that's part of why God would reject that kind of worship, because it's evidence that we have already rejected Him.

  9. To me the chapters 3,4 are our day. The latter day. Women/children rule over, go to the streets of America women wimp and mince as they walk with high heel’s. Men are slammed, and devalued. And they will in our day with wars, and death their will i think very few men…watch!!

  10. I am so excited about what you are teaching about Hebrew poetry (to help with studyingIsaih). I am sharing this video with all my friends!

  11. The entire 2nd Nephi Isaiah insert is a Chiasmus focused or centered on Chapter 18 (Isaiah 8). It's wonderful to read them in parallel – Isaiah 2 then 14, 3 then 13, 4 then 12 and so on until 8.

You're welcome. I discovered THAT chiasmus on my mission and I don't see anyone else even identifying it – but it helps tremendously to breakdown the macro-message of the Isaiah insert.

  13. Hi Bro Halverson – so glad to be studying Isaiah! Loved the explanation of Hebrew poetry! Very enlightening and empowering as I begin these chapters.
Can you refer me to a good title/book for sale that has Isaiah written in poetry form as you mentioned in the podcast? I would love to buy a copy to read.

  14. Isaiah’s teachings exist today as written prose. We can read them. But in his day where written anything was scarce, how were his teachings delivered to their intended audience? Who was the intended audience?

  15. Thank you for sharing your knowledge about the Old Testament, specifically helping us understand the Language and Historical context of Ancient Israel for our Latter Days!

Like you mentioned, I was sad that you didn't talk about the Isaiah back when we were studying the Book of Mormon, BUT I am SO GRATEFUL & EXCITED to learn how to learn more about the Prophecies of Isaiah and how these prophecies can help us better understand the poetry language, testifying of Jesus Christ, and how this relates to our time today as we are living in the Last Days! 😁❤️

I also wanted to share two thoughts that I had as I started watching this video.

My first thought was kinda seems random, but I felt like you are kinda like a Spiritual Ephraim Hanks.

The REAL Ephraim Hanks helped rescue my Ancestors on the harsh winter plains who were in the Martin Handcart Company. They who were in this Company, as well as the Willie Handcart Company, were in dire circumstances and were in very much need of help for Ephraim Hanks and other well equipped Saints, for whom, I am (& many others are) forever grateful!

So, in connection between the Real Ephraim Hanks and your personal "Institute-like lessons", when you mentioned about helping navigate through the Words of Isaiah, I feel like you became a Spiritual Ephraim Hanks to me and for anyone else who is in need of Spiritual Nourishment at this time. I am grateful for your willingness to help guide each of us with the Holy Ghost and the Standard Works, in this Spiritually harsh environment.

I'm grateful that, like Ephraim Hanks, you choose to take the Holy Spirit to be your guide and have helped give me Spiritual aid when I've needed it.
I know it's not just all on You and you strive to rely on the Holy Ghost to help ultimately teach us (which is as it should be!), but I'm grateful for your willingness to help serve, all the same. 🤗❤️

Another thought I had was when you mentioned Isaiah , where it mentioned that "…they shall run, and not be weary; and they shall walk, and not faint." (Isaiah 40:31)
    🏃💨 =😩 ➡️🚫 ➡️💪

I made the connection between this scripture and the scripture that states, "Men’s hearts failing them for fear, and for looking after those things which are coming on the earth. For the powers of heaven shall be shaken." (Luke 21:26)
    😨➡️💔

So I thought about how we need to Walk with God, in order for us to not faint Spiritually, as well as physically! Spiritually because of our Eternal Souls, and Physically because as we follow God, we are Promised that we shall, "For the Lord God hath said that: aInasmuch as ye shall keep my commandments ye shall prosper in the land; and inasmuch as ye will not keep my commandments ye shall be cut off from my presence." (2 Nephi 4:4)
    🌱🌾🌤️✝️💒🕊️

P.S. I love your ideas for adding smiley faces and frowny faces in the scriptures! As one who Loves using emojis, this is a wonderful idea! 😊👍❤️

  16. These things Isaiah said are prophecies about the modern covenant people. 3 Nephi 23, Christ commanded the reader of the BoM to study Isaiah because they were going to happen to us who have mingled with the gentiles D&C 109:60. He is saying he isn’t liking our temple work, sabbath meetings, fast and testimony meeting and conferences. D&C 124:32 There are heavy judgements that are coming directly for us just like they did over and over again with ancient Israel. https://youtu.be/84M6zo4QhrU

  17. I believe we have been misinterpreting Isaiah 2:1 about the mountain of the Lord. If we understand that in Isaiah’s book that trees represent people, forest = cities, hills – small nations and mountains represents big nations, it would read this way. “And it shall come to pass in the last days, that the mountain [nation] of the Lord’s house [people of the house of Israel] shall be established in the top of the mountains [nations – USA], and shall be exalted above the hills [smaller nations] and all nations shall flow unto it. This is setting the precedence that New Jerusalem in the last day will be found in the USA for which Isaiah refers to throughout his book. In verse 4 this is telling us about the millennium peaceful time. So these verses haven’t happened yet. It does not refer to SLC temple or any current temple.
