Tucked between Aspen and Leadville, the Twin Lakes form the largest glacial waters in Colorado. Surrounded by 13,000-foot peaks, the breathtaking beauty of the two lakes draws a constant stream of visitors. But long before Western settlers and tourists discovered this mining area, the Ute people lived on this land. Many broken treaties later, the Ute were removed. Can this now be reconciled?

  1. Seems like the taxpayer funded PBS series Colorado Experience is more and more about how white settlers wronged Indians. It is a conduit for a political agenda vs whatever topic it is supposed to be about. Very misleading, and disappointing.

  2. I wish the peaceful Indians still owned this country, the people that came to this country and destroyed the people and land make me sick. I did a research on my family and we landed here in 1926? And I didn’t know this until I started researching what happened to this great land, it makes me sick how Childish man is, we have destroyed this great land for nothing . The earth will live for ever, man will be extinct within the 100 years. I love peace and we as people need to love and respect one another to get our lives back to peace.
