Rawhide is a television series that takes place in the 1860s and depicts the difficulties encountered by the drovers on a cattle drive. Gil Favor, the trail boss, typically opens each episode with a monologue. Eric Fleming plays this role. In a conventional Rawhide narrative, the cattle drivers contact people along the path and engage in the affairs of others, often encountering diverse, unscrupulous characters. Oftentimes, one or more members of the crew embark on a journey to a neighboring town and face difficulties caused by dishonest townsfolk or unruly politicians, requiring them to be saved. Rowdy Yates, portrayed by Clint Eastwood, had youthful exuberance and occasional impulsiveness in the early episodes, necessitating Favor’s firm control over him.

The series consisted of a total of 217 episodes, all in black-and-white. Charles Marquis Warren, the producer and occasional director of the series, also worked on early episodes of Gunsmoke.
