  1. We are anxious because we have airline tickets to Seattle in 10 days where we plan to to catch Edge, but WestJet has issued 72-hour lockout notice. The sewage smell is also a concern. I'm an HSP, something misunderstood by most. One 'feature' is that my senses are more highly tuned, so I hear and see and smell things that others generally don't. For example, I used to hear the vacuum tubes in TVs, I can smell when someone is chopping cucumbers in the kitchen from half a house away, and I hate being in the same room as an open package of Blue Cheese. If I'm smelling raw sewage, it's probably going to be a problem.

  2. The average cruise ship gets refurbished every 3-5 years. It's not crazy that it is showing age when thousands of people are constantly wearing down the furniture and finishes.

  3. Definitely sounds like a deal, 11 days in an Edge class suite for that price is great. Hopefully they resolve whatever behind the scenes issue before they ruin multi cruises.

  4. I'm one of those guys that really enjoys the Luminae burger. A lot, but point well made. The best is at the lunch at Le Grand Bistro. I also enjoyed the buffet. Some don't think of it, but most have a beverage package. And with that, you can order fresh orange juice. So much better. My favorite meal on the ship is Eden. I'm glad there is no show, as I enjoyed the music being played. More relaxing. While I preferred Apex, I still enjoyed Edge. Same Retreat experience as yourself. We had no water or smell issues and my total score was 4.6. (yes. I use the same system) Two weeks until 13 nights in Scandinavia on Silhouette. A new class of ship for me. Thank you again. I've been appreciating your videos for quite some time now.

  5. We're on our 4th back to back, must have been after you departed. Love the ship, but have noticed the smell every now and then on the rooftop garden; We would just move to another spot. None of my upgrade requests were accepted …

  6. We were on the cruise. We experienced much of the same. We had no hot water in our shower the day they had issues. We smelt the sewage smell often more so on top deck, quite strong near retreat by the public whirlpool. Edge left us with a glad we sailed but would we again feeling. Sadly our experience with staff left us feeling that the standards have slipped. Overall we are glad we sailed on Edge but she’s not the ship for us, solstice for us.

  7. That grayish water in the shower and then to find out Guest Services knew about a main supply water issue and no announcement is NOT ACCEPTABLE and there could be problems for Celebrity because of this.

  8. "It's JUST the water"? That alone is enough for me NEVER to do Celebrity. Imagine Flint Michigan telling the residents that! They didn't disclose what was in the water that turned it another color or left residue that they expected guest to ingest in all that they ate and drank! The rest of the ship wouldn't matter!

  9. Great review ! I was on the cruise straight after yours and met a few people who did back to back . They all raved about how excited they were to meet you ! lol . Loved this cruise ship and it has to be the best cruise I’ve been on here in Australia! I was also in a Sky suite , so had the benefit of the retreat facilities. We didn’t have the smell though ? So not sure what was causing it for your cruise ? But was definitely gone by the time we boarded 🤷🏽‍♀️

  11. Currently on our Hawaii to Vancouver sailing. We have not had any smell issues and I am very sensitive to that.
Tonight is filet mignon night in Luminae, and I am hoping it's as devine as yours was!
    Thanks😊

  12. I have been on a few ships with the sewage smell going all the way back to the Sovereign of the Seas. I also was on the Allure with my parents and in laws at the aqua theatre show and during the entire show sewage smell was wafting all around us. This is not uncommon..but definitely disgusting. Never had any water issues in all of the ships I have sailed on. I wish Celebrity would offer drink vouchers for Diamond/Elite status. On the Eclipse we really received no benefit. This is my bucket list cruise as well. Thanks for the excellent overview

  13. Interesting you mentioned the port tendering situation. Cruising options from Australia are just South Pacific, NZ, and domestic. 3 or 4 of the South Pacific ports never reopened after the shutdown, NZ was already fairly limited, and Australian ports just can't handle the larger ships. We are already seeing the cruise lines send fewer ships here, because of this situation. Things will improve when RC opens their private island in Vanuatu, but that's years away yet.

  14. Hi Zack I do enjoy your videos, and I have never been on a Edge class chip but also, I have no wish to do so. The thing may well be beautiful inside, but outside it is again like many later ships a monstrosity the lines of the ship if it actually has any lines, are completely ruined by that thing hanging off the side of the ship.

  15. I sailed on the Edge on 5 April. I found the food in the dining room disappointing (although I am a vegetarian) however the buffet food was a better alternative . It is a beautiful ship and the entertainment was great. Unfortunately our infinite verandah stateroom had a broken toilet for two nights out of nine. I was told it was due to the sewer line being blocked. It was extremely inconvenient! A number of floors had the same issue, but it wasn’t widespread. I was given a bottle of wine as compensation and although I don’t drink alcohol it was an unexpected gesture to compensate for the inconvenience. It seems like the ship has a lot of maintenance issues.

  16. I’m leaving on an edge cruise soon. As others have mentioned I’ll be on the lookout for sewage issues. Such a shame because we usually stick with celebrity and enjoy them.

  17. Was on Beyond in April and smelled the sewage smell on Deck 3 in the cabin corridors. Was peeviusly on Apex and Edge and the smell was present at times aroind the ship, and on one of our rooms. Some have speculated the drain in the bathroom needs to be kept wet to keep gasses out.

Luminae burger is often par cooked and thet results in a steamed soggy patty. It is a good product when cooked to order, but the cooks seem to undercook them and get afraid the outside will char. The results then can be an undercooked center, which we experienced a few times on various sailings. The Retreat Deck menu is primarily the burger, or dried out salad or mushy shrimp. So, the burger is the only item that needs to be cooked most port days for lunch.

  18. OK, Zach…so if you rated the ship highly overall, then why is the video title so misleading? It gives the distinct impression that the ship is crap! I have sailed on Edge, Apex and Ascent, and I have very good personal experiences from those ships. Other than the price gouging for solo cruisers, I would not hesitate to sail on any Celebrity ship again.
