I try to beat Elden Ring and all the Remembrance Bosses with only whips, that are largely considered the worst weapon class of all, at least on the melee side
They don’t deal much damage, they are very slow and most importantly we can’t riposte with them
The range is good though

I did a whip only run a while back and it’s still my favourite run I’ve done
flails are worse
Whips are great for pvp, though underpowered in pve
What hurts me with whips is the lack of a backstab, they could have done a cool neck snap/choke animation but just didnt

I mean, my highest completion character is a dual whip build. I personnaly find it really strong. The only boss i can't beat is Malenia but I can't beat her on any character so that doesn't mean much.

The whips are insanely good on both PvP and PvE…. I have
50dex/50faith built and literally annihilate people on the arenas.
Not to mention how I melt enemies and bosses alike even in NG+5

Bows are incredibly low damage and fairly low status buildup, with most enemies being able to dodge. Even if an enemy can’t dodge, it can just glide right over it’s shoulder or something like that
Also, if you are using no status effects, or any except bleed, daggers are worse than whips

Diallos's Petal Whip is very Powerful, I use it in NG+10 and fight Malenia with it. Now it is because of Bleed and Frostbite Build. If you Kill Diallos as a Part of Volcano Manor Questline, he drops 2 of his whips and they are actually quite good with A decent Int/Dex/Arcane Build with the Crystal Cracked Tear, Claw Talisman and Lord of Bloods Exultation. Then just Jump+L1 every Boss to death. But you need to kill Morgot before getting it, but Bitch Vigoring the Early to Mid Game is fine to get through it. Since Scaling doesn't really happen until Later Game, leveling your vigor to 40-50 before Margot with small Investments to Dex and Endurance. Then just use 2 random whips with Bloodhound Step on one with Bleed Buildup since Bleed is Broken. Go kill Morgott since he does nothing to your 1700ish HP by Now. Get the Petal Whips, change your Build with a Larval Tear and Runce through the rest of the Game. The Petal Whips are one of my Favorite weapons in the game. And the Dual Wield attacks are Powerful and much better than 1.
I kinda disagree with this video, as I think flails are generally worse than whips and in PVP whips are amazing, but still, great video :3

However, one serious not: Why did they bother to spend creating some many different weapons, when some many are sub-optimal? Why wasting time programing different set of stats, when so many will be a waste of resources if invested in? Feels like artificially bloating the gma when they many it so much more interesting with Bloodbourne trick-weapons
