In this SCIENTIFIC EXPERIMENT, we use two Game Genie codes in order to explore what lies far beyond the flagpole in Level 1-1 of Super Mario Bros.
First, we’ll need enough time to “infinitely” explore the far reaches of the level, so I used a Game Genie code that gives me Infinite Time – AEEUTNNY
I also used another code that allowed me to jump high enough to get over the flagpole – GAZUAG.
Once you make it over the flagpole in Level 1-1 of Super Mario Bros for the Nintendo Entertainment System, you will probably notice there is a single brick block that blends in with the castle walls. You won’t notice it just by looking, but it’s there. You can stand on it or bump into it or IGNORE IT LIKE YOU’VE BEEN DOING YOUR WHOLE LIFE.
But what happens if we keep running to the right? At first the same background loops over and over. But about three minutes and twenty-ish seconds in, you’ll see the back ground begins to change. At first you’ll see those tree things that appear in other levels, but then there will be an assortment of glitchy sprites.
The green hills in the background will be jagged and airborne. Clouds will be incomplete and discolored. Rectangles of water will be floating in the sky. There are even fragments of mushroom platforms you can stand on if you can jump high enough.
After a few minutes of glitchy madness, the looping background returns to normal, except you might see a floating flag that is not attached to a flagpole! Other than that, the background will continually change and revert back to the same normal and glitchy patterns, but hey, that’s kinda cool!

As somebody who's been working on a ROM hack of this game I can confirm the brick block in the castle is indeed to prevent the dogs from escaping

A mutiny gives us infinite time XD. Preventing the dogs from escaping? The dog from Duck Hunt? This is the part of the Mushroom Kingdom that most people avoid. Are you even in the Mushroom Kingdom anymore?
I kinda want a stream where someone goes past the goal and has a machine hold right on the D-pad to see if anything happens
