  1. Had the 2021 Jets' Offensive Line been playing for the 2022 Jets, they could have very well won the AFC. But that's in a perfect world. In the Jets' real world, looking ahead to next season the interior of the Jets' Offensive Line would be just fine if #67 Dan Feeny were at one Guard spot and AVT returned to the other Guard spot, as Center Conor McDermott would be solid in between. I know everyone dismisses Feeney from being any type of alternative, while Feeney was truly garbage for the Chargers from 2017-'20, that was then and this is now. I am NOT necessarily a Feeney fan, I am simply pointing out that if anybody just simply watches the four games that #67 Feeney has been allowed to start in during his two seasons as a Jet (2021 weeks 16-18, as well as week 11 this season), you really do see why Pro Football Focus gives him a solid 70.6 rating. I draw a line-in-the-sand that Feeney and McDermott are a "B-" overall (which proves that it is NOT as though I worship Feeney) and specifically a "B-" at both straight ahead drive run-blocking and pass-blocking, while a healthy AVT would be slightly to fairly higher. It has to be understood that #78 Guard Laken Tomlinson is a pass-blocking specialist (which is OK to have, but you are better off with a lineman who can do both pass-block and run-block equally well). From 2015-'19 (from Detroit to San Francisco), Laken Tomlinson was a pass-blocking specialist before managing to improve his run-blocking in 2020-'21 during his last two years for the 49ers. Then he signed Jets' contact and arrived in 2022 but went back into pass-blocking specialist. Tomlinson should be below both AVT and Feeney on the depth chart, and as far as the money they are paying Tomlinson, well, either Jets decide to cut their losses, or give a whole new meaning to the term "valuable depth". Nate Herbig was another solid enough all-around blocker for the Eagles for three seasons (whether as a 1st or 2nd-stringer) who didn't run-block well or even anywhere close to well for most of this season. Now the difference between the 2021 and 2022 Jets' Offensive Line run-blocking is not necessarily reflected in the team's overall average rushing yards per carry, which was 4.4 in 2021 and 4.3 through the first 16 games of 2022. That's because the 4.3 yards per carry so far in 2022 was ballooned up with Breece Hall often gaining so much yardage (5.8 yards per carry on 80 carries) despite a lack of run-blocking in front of him. Either Breece Hall or Zonovan Knight running behind the 2021 Jets' Offensive Line would have been neither stoppable nor containable for opposing run-defenses. The true reflection of how much better the 2021 Jets' Offensive Line was than the 2022 Jets' Offensive Line can be seen in seeing RB Michael Carter averaging 4.3 yards per carry in 2021 and just 3.6 yards per carry in 2022. Now as far as 2023 is concerned, Jets have got to put Dan Feeney ahead of Laken Tomlinson and Nate Herbig and Laurent Duvernay-Tardiff, and right now he is obviously and erroneously placed below all three of them. This is nothing against Coach Saleh as practically all NFL teams have 2nd and 3rd-sringer on their depth chart who should be 1st-string. It is just what Jets need to know to take immediate the steps to get their Offensive Line back on the right track.

  2. Jets played meaningful games into January. We also found out about Zack Wilson, that he is not the answer at QB. The glass is half-full, not half-empty. Time to move on to the off season.

  3. The players in the trenches are the #1 reason, something the MW and ZW camps can agree on. From 32 to 3, because we got to the QBs. From 22 to 32 due to injuries on the O.

  4. We went 5-2 with the QB Jet fans hated from his rookie season. The season was derailed when we lost three key players in the Broncos game. Injuries to the o line ruined it. The saying location, location, location is the line, line, line. 32nd ranked o line. After we’ve blamed every QB that played for us this year can we start looking at the offensive line. Our D 32 to 3 because of the D line getting to the QB. The lines matter.

  5. 2022 Draft class civers a kot of the stench of JD's signings. DJ Reed was a great signing. Whitehead was OK. Davis, Tomlinson, Lawson all need to go. The 66 yd Waljer run was right past Lawson. The line gets fioled to often on counters. We needed a LB last year but picked a TE who never saw the field. Why a TE when we just signed Uz and Conk? Brutal!

  6. I guess being a fan over 50 yrs allows me to realize and accept the truth that this team is cursed. Curse may be broken if we ever move back to LI. I’m joking, but maybe….

  7. For me, IMO this was the worst season. All they needed was average qb play nd they would’ve been in the playoffs. This team was ready to win now nd the qb completely shit the bed.

  8. I think the reason why, initially, we would've been happy with 7 wins and competitive games late, is that we were in such a hole, we were so bad at the time that we envisioned these scenarios as if they would only mean the team has made progress. I don't think people considered going 7-3 and then completely tanking would have led us to these results. We wanted to see progress and unfortunately couldn't envision a scenario where 7 wins and playing competitively could mean digressing, but in contrast to the first half of the season, that's exactly what we did… So if we strip this all down, remove the win expectations etc, we wanted more than anything to see progress and the jets, being the jets, found a way to cloud that vision for us. Unfortunately performance wize, we are closer to the side of digression than progress and and because of that, I cannot feel warm and fuzzy for yet another year going into the off-season. That's a bummer and makes me feel like we are on a downward trajectory which again; doesn't feel like much of a success.

  9. This coaching staff is narcissistic in there approach , so many bad personal decisions where made The keeping of Braden Mann and Ashton Davis . The cutting of Jason pinnock the signing of lakleen and moving avt over . Them telling us we have to trust the process because it works . Where does it work ???? I would rather trust Detroit's , Jacksonville's , or the giants process instead .
