Brilliant piece of Camogie skill – a once-in-a-lifetime situation

Game: Galway Camogie Junior A Championship Semi-Final between Liam Mellows (wearing green & black) and Kiltormer (wearing blue & white).

Date: 25 September 2022.

Venue: Kilbeacanty.

Outcome: Liam Mellows won after extra time in a thriller.

Watch the clip closely as there are a few different components to it.

This incident happened around 10 minutes into the first half of the game with the score one point each.

The Kiltormer girl’s hurl(ey) is broken when blocking down the initial Mellows shot. By the time the ball is recycled back across, a well-known Kiltormer mentor had arrived on the scene to provide a new stick to the girl.

As he was arriving, the girl was still able to get the ball to hand with the broken stick, had sufficient presence of mind to drop the broken pieces, grab the new hurl, and clear the ball, all without overplaying same.

“Ah Ref, Come on!”

It eventually resulted in a well-taken score by Kiltormer.
