  1. I think the new Muscovy duck looks to be female, as well. Maybe name her Pablotte after another special Muscovy duck who just showed up one day to bless the farm with his particular brand of friendliness. I do miss him!

  2. Okie trying to mount you is not a sexual act, it is a dominance act and you are correct to not allow him to do it to you. I envy that you all have sunshine. Here in Illinois, we haven't seen it in a couple of weeks and the forecast shows it will be cloudy and overcast for another week. Luckily we have gotten up to the 30's and 40's which is a nice relief from the freezing temps we had. Love seeing all the animals. Thank you for sharing them with us. They sure do love you.

  3. Meghan, you can not elimate animal behavior of mounting on you or other animals from Oakie by scolding him. He is an animal, and his hormones don't listen to anything. Daniel's Alpaca (from Arms Family Homestead) was recently killed by displaying that same kind of behavior on Steve, their donkey. Please get Oakie neutered.

  4. At Okie’s age it’s not so much ‘mounting’ in a sexual sense, more exuberance, possibly hierarchical dominance, but mostly he’s just young & full of beans.
That said,i’m very happy to hear that you are using a stern voice 👍 (& push him away hard if necessary) – nip it in the bud now, while he’s young & malleable,& before he’s big & strong enough to hurt you badly. 🤗
The neutering i know you will take care of when he’s older & it’s time, you were on it for the bucklings & did all your research 👍
Temporary separation if necessary to keep both him & the other animals safe & interacting with him over the fence to keep YOU safe if it comes to it,is better than neutering too young before bones have closed.
But you are great with all the animals,so i’m sure you can get him out of it before it becomes a habit or a problem, you are doing an awesome job there! 👍
