One of the largest names in the tool industry has become totally irrelevant for 99 percent of tool buyers.

  1. I have lots of Bosch tools. You are right about the quality. They are all excellent. But in the 18v space they don’t have as many options as some of the others. Going forward, all my 18v tools will be Makita. I need to get back to just 1 cordless platform.

  2. I totally agree. No further explanation needed, just the horrible personal experiences. That is why they don't give spare replacement coal carbon brushes contrary to Hyundai tools does. Typical German consumable ideology to upgrade instead of elongation of usability. No Bosch tools and no Bosch household gadgets ever!

  3. I got the 12v Bosch drill/driver combo years ago when I was in a pinch… Love the stuff I got but I hate the line. There's next to nothing in it and I kind of regret buying them. When these die I'm going over to Milwaukee for my lightweight stuff.

  4. I went with the black and yellow because of the tools in stock that I could lay my hands on. I tried a Bosch corded router, which I still have, but I have to work too hard to use it. Just not comfortable in the hands.

  5. I gave up on Bosch years ago. Got sick and tired of their cords cracking and falling apart. Every single one the cords didn’t last more then a few weeks before they started cracking. Our Bosch table saw was the worst piece of shit ever made, in two years it was in the repair centre 4 times. I myself had to change the height adjustment gears 3 times because they are plastic junk. Then one day using it to cut siding it decided to start running backwards, got that on video. It was so satisfying throwing that thing in the dumpster. That was the last Bosch tool our company ever bought and we will never buy another!

  6. I feel the same about Makita. They were my first tool line up almost 20 years ago when they came out with the 18v LXT lineup but now it seems like they don’t make the best of anything. The Bosch 18v tools are my new preferred go to although I still like many of my Milwaukee m12 and m18 tools depending on the application.

  7. I love my Bosch 18v tools, but I bought each of them at Lowe’s unicorn clearance prices. Portable band saw, 1-1/8 in rotary sds-plus drill, matching dust extractor, drywall cutout tool, vacuum, extra batteries, most with additional BOGO battery deals. Can’t be sustainable for Bosch or Lowe’s.

  8. Honestly in my area everyone has Milwaukee. The pawn shops sit on every thing else. But if a Milwaukee lands on the shelf it is sold in a couple days for double the money. Everything else sits and collects dust.

  9. The reality is the American market is just soo different to the european market, you really need to be making tools directly targeted to those markets. This is the same with Makita and their struggles with the American market. Fortunately for Bosch they have a massive R&D department and own a lot of the licenses, so they are still making money from the sale of Dewalt and Milwaukee tools that utilise their designs like SDS, starlock and anti-kickback.

  10. And this is Menards premium brand. I don't think I have seen any professional in the field ever use Bosch anything. I think they are nice tools but they have no market share here in the States.
