Casper, Wyoming — On June 6, 2024, at approximately 9:30 p.m., multiple officers with the Casper Police Department responded to a call for service regarding a disturbance in the 5000 Block of Pay It Forward Drive. Officers spoke with the victim on scene, who made allegations that she was the victim of domestic violence. Officers attempted to make contact with the suspect, 26-year-old Trae Spurlock, for five minutes. After all attempts to contact Spurlock failed, Officers returned to speak with the victim.

In need of personal items from her home, the victim requested to enter the residence. To ensure her safety, the officers accompanied her. While this conversation was happening, one of the officers speaks with the victim to confirm if the weapon they had just observed, was, in fact, real. Upon entering the residence, the officers found Spurlock sitting on the balcony with a rifle next to him on the ground. For nearly 15 minutes, the officers attempted to talk Spurlock into the apartment, and away from his rifle.

When the officers attempted to arrest Spurlock for simple, domestic assault, Spurlock opened the sliding door and turned rapidly back towards the rifle. When the attempted use of a taser failed, the officer fired his weapon seven (7) times, six (6) of which struck Spurlock as he moved for his rifle. Officers immediately began first aid efforts and Spurlock was transported by ambulance to Banner Wyoming Medical Center, where he was later pronounced dead.

  2. They should have backed away after the woman left. They could pick him up later when he was sober. If a crime isn't committed in their presence, they have the authority to use their own judgment in enforcing the law. Just like they don't have to give you a ticket. They can warn you and release you on a traffic stop. Continuing on this path when they know it will end in bloodshed is ridiculous. He's a veteran for petes sake! Give him a break!

  3. I totally understand and I’m on the dudes side- these woman will psychologically abuse men until they snap then they want to act like a victim. I’m so glad I’m single again. Women are all the same. They are terrible- if the didn’t have something us guys wanted they would have been screwed and prob extinct lol they are literally all nuts then act like we’re the bad ones. They also all cheat, even when they act like they don’t

  4. She probably tells all her friends and family how much of a victim she is and that cops had to kill him because he was such a bad guy… Everybody knows that she’s a typical woman who probably mind screwed him so long that he lost it. I hope she sees this and the comments and knows that everybody hates her and blames her. She did this, and she was probably happy and moved in with the guy. She was cheating with a week later. they are all the same. Parasites.

  5. Wow I thought blue lives matter but all I’m seeing in the comments is folks siding with the vet . He reached for the gun , isn’t that grounds for room temperature challenge ? Seems like the officer made the right decision .

  6. This was very poor policing and in Australia would have resulted in serious charges against the officers. The woman had not been hurt but merely pushed out the door. The police should have escorted her away and then left. This whole episode is pretty disgusting really. A veteran soldier shot by supposedly his own people. Pathetic.

HAD THEY OF ABIDED BY THOSE DIRECTIVES NO ONE WOULDVE DIED. SHE WOULDVE BEEN SAFE AS THEY COULDVE COME BACK LATER AND DEALT WITH THE ALLEDGED ASSAULT. BUT OH NO, THEIR EGO GOT HURT, THEY WEREN'T HAVING IT.

  8. That's the problem, I didn't arrive at the moment of the shooting… I stopped here at 13:40
I am not a Police Officer, but c'mon guys, not to disrespect any Police Forces that works hard, but keep the girls out, and finish the story. If the Police are worried about the body cams, c'mon it is very easy to explain that keep the girl out of the house and end the story was the easiest and less dramatic solution…

  9. A woman with purple hair hired the police to kill a man who was drinking wine on his balcony and not threatening anyone? Is this a new way to recruit Sicario for free? Should I call 911 to order this package? The man didn't even reach for his gun and looked like he was going to jump off the balcony and escape from a purple haired woman and hired sicarios.

  10. You are right, Just bcoz he's honest doesnt mean he's not wrong. thats true. BUT IN THIS CASE. they never TESTED VERIFIED CHECKED that what she's saying is true or not. She complained, n they just went for it. as if she's the boss, n they're her employees. LOL. This law is ACTUALLY funny…. If He needs to prove that he didn't hurt her, then she also should prove to police that he did hurt her. If not, then she should be held accountable for blaming an innocent person. ….. thats called justice. and its VERY EASILY POSSIBLE (IF INTENTION IS RIGHT).
