This should have been a Hollywood Movie. Had I known I would have gone down and got on. That smoke was there for three weeks. It was awful. I was so sad
Yeah, that's also just Americans. The canjun navy is always out 8n hurricanes. Ive also watched my father and grandfather and all the adult men i know launch flat bottom fishing boats into what was rt 52 in McDowell county wv ans go into flood waters before the national guard could show up. Americans are at their best when we're desperate.
I'm a Japanese person, have been living in Canada, west coast city, Vancouver for 30 years and I do still remember that day of 9/11 like yesterday. I'm not American nor New Yorker but every time I watch any of the shocking and terrifying images of 9/11, it hits me deeply and get emotional to this day. I remember that day I was on the way to work at a department store, I saw the news on TV and was glued to the screen because I couldn't believe what I was watching and hearing as the event was unfolding from shocking to something surreal and beyond my senses to be able to comprehend what was going on in NYC. I was so terrified even being far away from New York, I felt so sorry for so many people who were affected in NYC. Then even at my work, we heard that some air planes were on the way to our city, Vancouver as well even though all of air crafts were supposed to be grounded at that time. I was terrified and so as many people at work. None of us felt like that was just another bad news in the US but really impacted all of us as we couldn't access the right information like today and we could only hear and see from TV and the radio. So our department store decided to shut the doors earlier at around noon or so in case of emergency and I went home walking with a very heavy heart. I had to go sit by the beach to have some sense of normalcy and peace in me by looking at the sea and feeling the comforting sun light and air after all of those traumatic events were still going on on the other side of the US. That heavy feeling and the heart breaking emotion actually never went away but it got worse as the day and time went on because we were able to get more detailed information about that day and onwards. This video is also a very new video for me, I learned something new as well and it was very touching to see so many people trying to help each other when they were going through the darkest and vulnerable moments. That's the beauty of humanity and as much as we could have the opposite dark side of humanity. But in the end when we face the time when others are in such desperate and vulnerable positions, we are all given to have compassion and kindness for others. It doesn't matter where you are from, your ethnicities, the skin colour, religion and whether you are republican or liberal. This is the also beauty of I believe true American people as well to be able to all come together strong to do something great and not for themselves but for others without any conditions nor return. I hope all Americans will unite together again for the sake of goodness and for the country, for peace and harmony for people from the coast to coast. I know that the big presidential election is around the corner and either side wins, I still pray and hope that all Americans will come together to rebuild the country for the better and for the children of the future. We all need to agree to disagree at one point but let us go back to that day of 9/11, our caring spirit and love were unanimous so let's not forget that raw goodness of humanity once more today. I know we all are capable and there is always a hope especially we truly trust the pureness of humanity God has given to each one of us and to do what he taught us to do, which is to love one another. God bless you all and America! Peace!❤🗽🇺🇸🕊
If you haven't watched it yet, there's a tiny town named Gander in Canada (with an airport) that took in a lot of airplanes coming from Europe that were being diverted away from the USA after all planes were grounded. I had just gotten off work (I worked overnight at a fast-food restaurant) in Florida and was going home when I heard about the attack on the radio. I was glued to the TV for hours. It was the most surreal day in my life.
I had just turned 20 in August of that year and I was standing in formation. I was stationed at Hunter Army Airfield and I’ll never forget that moment. Shortly after I received orders for Iraqi Freedom. I will never forget
I live in England, and was about to turn 7 years old just started first grade (year 2 in England) and I remember my parents sitting around the TV when I got back from school and I swear my mother and our neighbour was sitting around crying
I agree it hits different when you’re alive for 911, but I don’t know how it hits when other people are from different states like I was born in Florida my brother was also living in Florida, but my entire family is from New York so everybody has different experiences
On that day. I was 10 Years old. 5th Grade in Florida. It's 5 days before my Birthday and at the time, that's what I had on my mind. I have sent out the invites to all my classmates just a few days prior and we were all looking forward to the day. I got to school and within the first 20 minutes of school, we were put on lockdown. We were told our parents were coming to take us home because something terrible is happening. In the class rooms we only had Radios and so the Teachers turned on the Radio and we listened to the Radio. I had a hard time understanding what was happening. My Dad picked me up and drove us home. the School is roughly 45 min drive. By the time we got home and put the news on, the 2nd tower was hit as well as the Pentagon. Seeing the impact on the Towers through the screen was when it really sunk in and I realized what was happening. I watched as the Towers fell live on the News. I was scared for the people there and was in shock of what was happening. I may not have been there, but my heart goes out to all that were impacted by it and it's a day I have never forgotten.
Amazing vedio, what Angel's they were. I was at work & we were lucky enough to have a TV on site. Watched for a solid hour then we watched periodically throughout the day. We all did some crying that day.
I had seen this documentary before and it was very moving. When the Coast Guard called for boats and the boats came. The pictures of the ships arrowing in on lower Manhattan had me sobbing then and again now. I live in Upstate New York and I had visited the Twin Towers and gone up in Tower Two to the observation deck. I looked down on the city from that vantage point. It broke my heart to think of the people who had to jump from that height as a last resort. There was such chaos on that day. No one knew what was happening. Rumors were flying, nothing was certain. The Pentagon was hit, what was next?
Writers of end-of-the-world fiction like to think that people will turn on each other like rabid animals at the first hint of disaster but this has never been true. As Mr. Rogers said "Look for the helpers" they will always come. Thank you for posting this story. In this time of political chaos and division, we needed a reminder that we are all Americans. That we are all one. May God Bless you.
One thing that will always stay with me. The fact that strangers took people into their homes. So many were lost and had no where to go. Many new Yorkers took care of many who just needed a phone to call loved one's. A glass of water or a new pair of clothes and a shower. That love and solidarity will always stay in my heart. The love and care after such a tragedy was something I will remember always! Rest peacefully to all we lost on 9/11. Respect to all the people who stepped in to help when the world needed it.
Just a correction—we had cell phones. It wasn't common for kids in high school to have a cell phone. I received one my senior year of high school. I was a sophomore in college on 911. I lived in Secaucus and attended Montclair State. 911—never forget! I still remember watching it all and then going down there about a week later- the smell I can still recall. I remember it all so clearly, like it just happened.
3rd time I have had to Re-Subscibe . Great Video. I was running a liquor store on the day this happened and it was so numbing and all people talked about for days and a lot of new drinkers after that day .
I lived in Philly and was working across the bridge in Cherry Hill New Jersey the morning we were attacked. The governor was giving whomever was in Jersey till 12 noon to evacuate the state or they were stuck there for the day.
I couldn’t even go to my night job in Philly because every high rise office building around was closed until further notice (in all honesty until every build around stepped up their security)
The one thing I can remember distinctly was the smell of “fresh kills land fill”. You could smell it no sooner passing on i95.
I worked in a high rise, Toledo, OH. I was coming in, people running out. Co workers said, a plane is over Cleveland, they are evacuating the building. I ran out, went home. Went back to work the following week. Everytime, I heard a plane, being on the 23rd floor scared me to death.
A private yacht cal Avante called in to ask if they could assist.. the calls to the Hatbour control were giving call signs like "TUG 18 here, TUG 23 HERE, WE'RE COMING " It was inspirational!
I was in my freshman year of high school outside of Chicago. My mother was a special education teacher and was a couple doors down. My teacher wouldn't let me go to her and I still regret it.
The attack on the Twin Towers was a devastating moment in history. Although I wasn’t born yet, I’ve come to understand the immense loss and impact it had on the world 😢
I live in Boston. I worked for a ambulance company at the time . I used to enjoy listening to Howard Stern. He was on the radio back then. I had just taken a patient back from a doctor's appointment. I hoped back in the ambulance and turned the radio back on to howard he was screaming and yelling this is an attack we are under attack. I couldn't really understand what was going on. I was called back to the yard . We all stood up watching people jump from the buildings . I couldn't understand why they were jumping I didn't understand what really happened. Then the second plan hit . New ambulances we had coming were taken to help . The government gave strict instructions to lock all vehicles in-between pick up and drop offs . They feared that they would steal ambulances to do more harm.
None of us who were alive and old enough on that day will ever forget it. We will always know where we were, what we were doing, and how we felt. We will always remember how all Americans came together during that time, for many months. We helped each other, we agreed with each other. Politics didn't matter for a while, only our lives and loved ones. Our psyche was on high alert for months, wondering at any time if it could happen again in 5 minutes and if it would be the end of the world.
Even my eldest daughter, who was an 8 year old in an orphanage in Kazakhstan, remembers. It was on tv EVERYWHERE. One would think that it would have no impact on a bunch of young oblivious orphans, but indeed it did.
I and my young family with 2 babies were on leave visiting my in-laws in Missouri. We had just gotten up and around for the morning. We were staying downstairs in the finished basement. All of a sudden someone turned on the tv and we saw a horrific site of a tower in ny on fire. I didn't know what it was. A couple minutes later, we saw live on tv the second tower being hit. The feed we happened to see was a reporter in front of that building reporting, and boom! And we saw her scream, look back, and debris was falling all around and on her. The feed was cut as she and the cameraman ran off. I never saw that feed again, it was a unique one. We ran upstairs at that point to the living room and watched with the rest of the family. We were wide eyed and speechless as we saw fires, papers flying, people stuck up there…and ultimately, the towers falling.
I was 22 and married with my first baby 6 months old. We had planned to open a business the following week in California and my husband at the time was in Southern California having just flown the night before from Sacramento to LA to look at a refrigerated truck we needed to open. Thankfully by we bought it and he was driving home because he would have been stranded otherwise. Rip to all lost in this tragedy, and a world of thanks to all of the heroes who helped them and served in the GWOT since, including my son’s namesake who we lost and my wounded warrior husband. Never forget the unity we had then. I pray we don’t need another such situation to come back together again ❤❤❤
I was born in Yonkers New York St John's hospital and lived in Scarsdale on Mount Joy Avenue. So I guess I could say that I'm a native New Yorker. I haven't been back there since I was 3 years old but still that's my town. And I am now 71 years old.💕🌹🇺🇸
I was a Senior in high school. I had a funeral for a classmate that morning. When we left, the first plane had just hit a few minutes prior. When we came out of the funeral, they had declared terrorist attacks.
It’s horrible that the only time you see 🇺🇸 AMERICA 🇺🇸 is during tragedy. It’s the only time we seemed to always be able to work together or like a broken family at a funeral.😢

Apart from the US my country the uk had the biggest loss of people from any other nation

Thank you for sharing this. It’s a video that I have never seen and I watch the videos of 9/11 every year. ❤️
Wow
The sad thing about survivors is that many of them suffered and died from lung cancer 😢
It's actually part of the sailors' code that if you here a May Day on the radio, you are required to respond to it.
