  1. Funny thing, I did some research about the redhead, and all I could really find was that she was basically for this show. Whether they didn't want to use her actual name or what, it's actually pretty interesting. Obviously didn't look at any potential spoilers, and am still confused as to whether that is supposed to Black Widow, Sharon Carter, or literally just someone for this show. Doesn't really matter, but it did send me on a slightly interesting rabbit hole after filming this episode.

  2. They took a pretty different approach with Chameleon which I'm not the biggest fan of. In this continuity he is mute and instead of disguises he uses a belt that somehow transforms his appearance. In the comics Chameleon is the very first villain Spider-Man ever fought and is actually the half brother of Kraven the Hunter.

  3. Hobgoblin is voiced by Mark Hamill who obviously also voiced the joke in Batman the Animated Series. I really hope you continue your reaction to it along with the rest of the DCAU which is comprised of Batman the Animated Series, Superman the Animated Series, The New Batman Adventures, Batman Beyond, Static Shock, Justice League and Justice League Unlimited.

  4. It was quite an interesting direction for the show to go introducing Hobgoblin before Green Goblin since Hobby is tied directly to GG. Mark Hamil does the voice of Hobgoblin, and he's only a few years into his career as Joker so his voice acting is still in its infancy.

  5. The reason Hobgoblin appeared first in the animated series was because the idiot producer Avi Arad force the producers because he had already arranged for the toys of Hobgoblin to be on sale at the same time. It's also why Venom appeared so early on in the show. Avi Arad infamously was the one who forced Sam Raimi to include Venom in Spider-Man 3 despite the fact that Sam Raimi didn't want to and he had a big hand in ruining The Amazing Spider-Man 2.

  6. Avi Arad insisted that the Hobgoblin should be introduced before the Green Goblin. And yet, John Semper Jr. somehow made this decision feel natural to the overall story of "Spider-Man TAS", the sign of a great writer. This gives us more time to explore Norman Osborn's character before his descent into madness, and it will be more rewarding when he becomes the Green Goblin. Hobgoblin himself is marvelously written in this show, and the voicework by Mark Hamill, you can't go wrong with Mark Hamill.

  8. Hmm, only the D stands for the same word compared to the MCU acronym for SHIELD. They also made it a point to specify it as an international organization here, whereas the MCU places it solely under the jurisdiction of the U.S. Government.

Plus, Nick Fury is a graying white guy, but I've always known that it was the MCU that first (or was one of the first) to race-lift him into being a black guy. (In this case, I don't care, as Fury's race was never truly relevant, and he's played by freakin' Samuel L. Jackson.)

  9. That is one freaky helicarrier (if you can even call it that with no visible propeller blades)! It's not like the one in the MCU could actually fly in real life either, but who the heck designed this thing to be as anti-aerodynamic as possible?!
