Giselle is using Hitsugaya to fight Kurotsuchi and it’s breaking our heart D: He was still alive when he was turned, so we think there’s a chance, even if his ”master” says his mind perished (Kurotsuchi used his drugs to prove there was still something alive in there, so who knows?! We might be able to save him o.o) While this is going on, Byakuya faces Pepe, who uses ”love” to manipulate people into fighting each other…

  1. The Mayuri fight was awesome. He is an entertaining character and more layered than most of the captains. Seeing Mayuri turning Gigi's zombies into his own and using them to kill their enemies is twisted and pragmatic. I also loved he revealed he allows his zombies to retain their personalities, because it is more fun to control them now.

I have to be honest the Byakuya fight was underwhelming to me. I get defeating three Stern Ritter is cool fan service for him, but it didn't do it for me and felt like Kubo was trying to speed things along by having Byakuya beat these characters off-screen. The fight with Pepe was meh in general and we already seen Byakuya fight two enemies with some form of manipulation power before and this one was by far the least creative one. The fight itself was kind of a drag. It doesn't help that in the end Mayuri was given the glory by stopping the loved infected slaves not Byakuya.

This is probably a under popular opinion, but this fight in both the manga and anime is what made me think Byakuya should have actually died. For me in this arc he just feels like he is just there, and Kubo couldn't come up with a story for him in this arc. I am aware this is just my opinion and plenty of people are happy he lived and got a massive power up. I am one of the weird Bleach fans who wish Chad, Orihime, and Uryu got more time in the sun and actually got to grow in power to help Ichigo fight enemies like the Espada and Stern Ritter or who wanted characters, like Soi-fon, vizards, Unohana, and other underutilized characters got more to do. That is why I loved Sajin's big fight, since he was allowed a big win or Renji's fight with Mask, since he usually gets shafted.
