Looks like the melee attack radius was too small. Since he wasnt moving and the zombies werent getting close enough he never finished his attacks.
How can a zombie even hurt a space marine? You could punch their armor all day while barley scratching the paint! Seems to be the simulated values were off alongside the glitching. Not to mention the mobility of the space marine. Fun idea, just a weak execution (pun intended).
